We are seated in beautiful, newly renovated premises at Lindholmen in Gothenburg. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Volvo Car Sweden.

The role sits within the team of Robotics Engineering function, with main responsibility to design and optimize the automation processes by creating innovative robotic end-effector technologies. You will work in the development of bespoke intelligent manipulation solution to manufacturing processes of both industrial robot/cobot and mobile robot, which includes mechanical and electrical hardware, as well as programming and execution.
What you'll do
- Design and develop custom mechatronics solution for robotics end-effector used in manufacturing assembly applications, at high precision, durability and efficiency.
- Source, integrate and calibrate appropriate actuators, sensors and controllers to form efficient and intelligent robotic end-effector solution.
- Perform kinematic and dynamic analysis of robot end-effector to ensure safe and accurate operation.
- Build and test prototypes to assess the concept and functionality of the solution, iterate through identified improvements to meet performance standards and ensure reliability.
- Design and perform rigorous testing and validation suite of solution package to ensure robust, precise, reliable and scalable complete solution prior to deployment.
- Robot and end-effector programming/teaching and simulation for new application and deployment.
- Documentation of technical details, technical reports, program codes/scripts and set-up manuals.
- Address new challenges arising from a more diverse engineering workforce with inter-cultural and disciplinary, inclusivity, and diversity-oriented mindset.
What you'll bring
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in Mechatronics/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
- 5+ years extensive experience in robotics end-effector design and application, system integrator.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in end-effector mechanics, kinematics, dynamics, control and motion planning.
- Balanced skills and experiences in mechanical design, basic electrical circuitry and microcontroller programming.
- Solid knowledge of various end-effector technologies with courage & passion to create a balanced of innovation and agile working solutions.
- Hands on experience in commissioning of industrial robots/cobots/mobile robots.
- Proficiency in programming (online and offline) industrial robot/cobot/mobile robot using manufacturer’s specific languages or Python/C/C++/Java.
- Good overall people management skills.
- Proficient in CAD.
- Working knowledge in ROS1/ROS2 and SLAM localization technique is an added advantage.
- Understanding of computer vision, object detection AI framework/tools is an added advantage.
- Virtual commissioning experience of a robotics system is a plus.
- PLC programming knowledge is a plus.
