What you'll do
Candidate will be a key member of the Greater China Legal team, particularly the corporate legal team based in the APAC Headquarters in Shanghai, and independently manage various legal matters and projects on the corporate side. Candidate will be the legal advisor and sole legal interface for a selection of corporate functions to address their legal needs on a day-to-day basis and will in this capacity collaborate and interact with colleagues around the globe.
Key responsibilities include the following:
1) Manage legal matters for APAC indirect purchasing and logistics, including agreement drafting, review and negotiations, dispute handling, agreement templates management, provision of related legal training, and general consultation.
2) Provide IP support, including advising on IP provisions in agreements, drafting and negotiating IP-focused contracts, advising on other transactional IP matter as it may arise such as brand protection and copyright matters.
3) Interface and advise manufacturing plants in China on significant legal matters, including both transactional and contentious matters.
4) Manage legal projects for other corporate functions such as Strategy and Product, R&D, Corporate Communication.
5) Support affiliate-related M&A projects, cross-region legal projects, as well as other strategic initiatives and projects.
6) Conduct legal trainings for business colleagues.
What you'll bring
- Master of law (with upper-tier grades) from a reputable Chinese university and/or from a university outside China. Overseas educational background preferred.
- 5-8 years of post-qualification experience in reputable law firms and/or in-house legal departments, including at least moderate transactional IP experience handling IP agreements and IP consultation.
- Solid private practice experience required. In-house experience in a global legal team or in companies within manufacturing sector is strongly preferred. Automotive industry experience also preferred but not required.
- At least one legal bar qualification required, PRC Bar is strongly preferred.
- Experience in M&A projects is a plus.
