Job Summary:             

The Supply Chain Coordinator is responsible to manage assigned suppliers/parts to secure adequate supply of production material to support the VCCH production plan.  The SCC will ensure deliveries of parts on time, the right quantity and highest quality, and lowest cost.  This is managed through optimizing systems parameters per supplier, such as safety days, safety stock, unit loads, etc.  By managing alerts, problem solving, and timely escalation to management the SCC is expected to prevent any disruption to parts availability for production.  The SCC role is in continuous direct communication with assigned suppliers.  

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the supplier set up for all assigned suppliers.  This includes knowledge and confirmation of safety stock, safety days, packaging, and other parameters to secure production material flow for Batch, JIT & JIS material from supplier to the assembly/component plants.
  • Maintain and monitor the correct setting of parameters in Volvo’s MRP system to optimize material flow (safety stock, unit loads, reaction time, or frozen period, FTL or LTL, etc.
  • Evaluate EDI call offs and supplier ASN transmissions for accuracy and ensure timely delivery and goods receipt.
  • The SCC steers and maintains optimal inventory levels.
  • The SCC has full knowledge and understanding of the material planning process and restrictions in the plant production process.
  • Active participation in cross-functional workgroups together with central Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L).
  • Coaching and development of existing and new suppliers to improve the overall delivery performance.
  • Utilize existing tools such as Volvo Supplier Improvement (VSIM), A-reports, phone/online conferences, F2F meetings, and escalation activities. The tools being used are intended to standardize the approach in developing and improving suppliers who do not perform in accordance with Volvo Car Corporation requirements.
  • Continuous improvement of systems and processes within the supply chain by improving existing or creating standardized work instructions.
  • Ensure the supplier’s capacity and flexibility by closely following and reporting the delivery performance, following up on backlog, and ensuring supplier’s adherence to delivery schedules.
  • Secure smooth implementation of new level part on engineering changes focusing on minimizing obsolescence and ensuring uninterrupted flow.  Follow the RCP process for material confirmation.
  • Participation in supplier changes or modifications: SCC is continuously in close contact with the MP&L teams, project team, Central MP&L, and Purchasing.
  • Follow up on personal and department KPIs by performing the tasks as described above to reach the organizational targets.
  • Working according to Volvo Cars principles.
  • Requesting ad-hoc inventory cycle counts as required.
  • Leading recovery efforts for material expedites as required.
  • Window for supplier material flow error and corrective/recovery actions.

                                   

Skills / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain/Logistics Management, Business Administration, Information. Technology or Industrial Engineering, or equivalence of 3-5 years’ work experience in high paced supply chain management (preferably automotive manufacturing).
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of MRP, lead time, and risks of disturbances in the complete supply chain.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills that showcase communication, cooperation, and strategic thinking.
  • Driven, initiative, and results oriented.
  • Experience with both international and domestic supplier communications.
  • Strong customer focus and service mind-set with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Solid understanding of Tier1 supplier operations and risks.
