Senior Logistics Data Engineer
Let's introduce ourselves
As Outbound Logistics accelerates its digital transformation, we are evolving from foundational IT integration to continuous software optimization, predictive intelligence, and operational scalability. The Senior Logistics Data Engineer serves as a key bridge between global logistics operations, digital infrastructure, and executive decision-making.
In this high-impact role, you will own the functional lifecycle and operational implementation of our Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and digital logistics solutions. Beyond platform governance, you will set the strategy for our logistics data architecture—leveraging cloud data lakes (Snowflake) to design scalable Business Intelligence frameworks, automate enterprise reporting, and unlock strategic efficiencies across our global distribution network.
What you'll do
Key Responsibilities
1. Digital Platform Leadership & Implementation Governance
- Lead System Implementation: Direct the functional deployment, integration, and continuous improvement of TMS platforms and software applications across global outbound operations.
- Architect Integration Reliability: Partner with enterprise IT, software vendors, and external transport partners to oversee integration channels (EDI/API), ensuring seamless data orchestration and high system integrity across the supply chain.
- Manage Master Data Governance: Establish and enforce master data standards, routing logic, and system configurations to safeguard network precision and operational performance.
- Drive Functional Enhancements: Serve as the primary business owner for software change management, defining functional requirements, leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and managing vendor roadmaps.
2. Lead Business Intelligence & Predictive Analytics
- Data Lake Exploitation: Extract, model, and analyze complex supply chain datasets within our cloud data architecture (Snowflake) to identify network bottlenecks, cost-reduction levers, and capacity opportunities.
- Architect BI Ecosystems: Design and deploy enterprise PowerBI visual intelligence solutions that transform raw operational metrics into actionable executive dashboards and strategic reporting tools.
- Automate Operational Workflows: Lead process-automation initiatives (utilizing Power Automate, Python, or SQL frameworks) to eliminate manual data handling and elevate operational velocity.
- Strategic Data Storytelling: Translate complex data models into strategic insights and business cases for executive leadership to influence network design and logistics strategy
3. Cross-Functional Strategy & Execution
- Lead regional deployment teams (US, Europe, China), IT stakeholders, and external software vendors to execute the broader logistics digitization roadmap.
- Guide management in strategic decision-making by providing data-driven recommendations on transport flows and network design.
- Operational Change Management: Empower regional operations teams by championing software adoption, developing standard operating frameworks, and elevating organizational data literacy.
What you'll bring
Experience & Education
- Experience: 7+ years of combined experience in business intelligence or systems management, paired with hands-on experience in supply chain operations, transport management, or finished vehicle logistics.
- Education: University degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, Logistics, or Supply Chain (or equivalent practical experience).
Technical Skills
- Advanced Analytics: Proven experience querying enterprise data lakes (Snowflake / SQL) and building scalable PowerBI reporting architectures.
- Logistics Systems: Deep functional familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), enterprise integrations (EDI ANSI X12 / EDIFACT, APIs), and supply chain workflows.
- Strategic Mindset: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to turn operational friction into structured digital solutions.
- Executive Communication: Outstanding ability to articulate technical strategies to non-technical operational leaders and executive stakeholders.
Professional Competencies
- Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving abilities with a track record of addressing complex operational challenges through data.
- Communication: Ability to convey technical and analytical concepts clearly to non-technical business partners and executive stakeholders.
- Self-Drive: High inner drive, proactive mindset, and the ability to take full ownership of deliverables in a fast-paced global environment.
