Quality Manager

The Quality Manager will lead and direct supervisors and manage all operations within their area of responsibility. This role will be a part of the Plant Quality Management Team and will enforce the Volvo Cars’ culture.
What you'll do
- Lead, direct and manage quality operations within the assigned area of responsibility.
- Responsible for future model launches in their area of responsibility.
- Coordinate workshop activities with supervisors to ensure that the quality objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Lead organization in problem solving method and tracking to ensure our customers are protected including validation of containment methods.
- Drive for execution of control plan and secure updating.
- Review product and process solutions for running changes ensuring quality characteristics are met.
- Owner of Stop Shipments and subsequent meetings to ensure local and global alignment on decisions taken and lead execution of plan.
- Implement cost effective Continuous Improvement tools to improve operating expenditures, manpower, etc.
- Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company’s goals and objectives.
- Provides leadership in the implementation of 5S programs.
- Provide direction, development and leadership to quality engineers.
- Deliver set objectives in accordance with the department’s Volvo Car Manufacturing System-scorecard.
- Responsible for performance of activities connected to "Year over Year" efficiencies.
- Deliver products according to specifications, using continuous improvement tools, such as 6-sigma, and with the authority to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Build excellent relationships within the area of responsibility and with other Volvo units worldwide.
- Work towards a lean organization.
- Foster standardized work through QPS and daily coaching activities.
What you'll bring
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in automotive Quality environment or equivalent.
- Knowledge of a Quality Operating System and other quality assurance structures/processes in a plant.
- Understanding of quality engineering principles.
- Excellent skills in leadership and coaching, ability to motivate, teach and encourage people.
- 6-Sigma Competencies.
- Knowledge of customer demands and customer perception of product quality.
- Knowledge of competitors and industry standards in relation to product quality.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in relation to Plant build products.
- Ability to articulate complex issues
- Carries out all duties and responsibilities with the utmost integrity and consistent with the highest ethical standards
- Remains flexible and responsive to changing conditions.
- Uses both logic and intuition to reach appropriate conclusions.
