Plant Business Office Manager

Job Summary:

This high visibility role is located within the Plant Engineering (PE) organization in the Plant Business Office (PBO) group. The Plant Business Office Manager (PBO Manager) drives the creation and execution of plant strategies that maximize plant performance in running production, the introduction of new processes and layouts (e.g., to support new platforms), and manning. This function will analyze and drive improvements through shop and department-focused work with the Plant Vision, Shop Visions, plant and shop layouts, manning plans and QDFIPS KPIs. The role reports to the Director of Plant Engineering and has direct reports which are individual contributors and supervisors. Coaching and mentoring is a key component of this job as PBO operates across many different departments.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Set plant and shop efficiency targets, short and long term.
  • Represent production Plant/Shop Manager in all projects related activities.
  • Prioritize project resources, budget and timing to achieve non-Product project deliveries.
  • Be the plant interface towards MBPO (Manufacturing Business and Program Office) and ME in early phases.
  • Secure the Plant Annual Process (technical meetings, vision layouts, targets, capacity, and investments)
  • Secure updates to vision layouts and support within expertise areas
  • Own the Technical Masterplan being the high-level plan for the installation needs prod and non-prod (incl. FM and Env.) per plant and shop 1+4 years ahead.
  • Initiate plant/shop investments related to vision and efficiency. Manage 1+4 years capex process, challenge wanted investments and consolidate shop/plant investment needs.
  • Prepare shop and plant vision reviews covering all major changes.
  • Chairman for Plant Engineering Technical Meeting (PETM).
  • Manage the manning and efficiency process for plant including target setting and follow up.
  • Be the voice of the plant and put forward plant ambitions and demands in projects.
  • Govern non product projects within the plants (insourcing, transformations, facility) until concept/budget approval (time, technic, cost) and support until project is finalized.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, business administration, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of the automotive industry and knowledge of OEM business operations
  • Proven experience in data analysis and attention to detail, including troubleshooting reports and resolving issues
  • Proven experience as a problem solver and leader of projects (create a strategy, form a team, make, and manage time plans, report to leadership, and escalate as needed)
  • Organizational and leadership skills (identify work to be done, allocate appropriately within a team, train and coach, and takes ownership of the team’s results)
  • Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills (including schedules, graphs, and flows that support what is being conveyed)
  • Leadership of cross-functional meetings, able to discuss with all levels of the organization outside of meetings
  • Professionalism to communicate with counterparts in headquarters on behalf of the plant and senior leadership
