PSCE Material Flow Engineer

PSCE is responsible for the preparation and implementation of In Plant Supply Chain processes related to the introduction of new products and processes for VCCH as well as the maintenance and improvement of these implemented processes in line with VCMS standards.  The PSCE should support the introduction of new processes and the roll-out of Lean Materials.  This role will require interface with the Manufacturing Engineering, R&D and Central functions within all regions.

What you'll do

 

  • Leads the optimal introduction of new products and product changes within in-plant logistics. 
  • Subject Matter Expert in at least one area or system.
  • Helps develop training programs for both internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Defines the business requirements related to the IT systems applied within the in-plant logistics process. 
  • Prepares detailed plans, generally spanning several months, vital to completing assigned projects.
  • Support department cost reduction and business plan initiatives including development of total cost business cases, action plans and launch of new equipment and/or processes.
  • Updates relevant parameters in the MP&L systems. 
  • Designs the optimal transport flow between local suppliers, logistic providers, and the plant. 
  • Ensures material flow and material layouts are optimized and support lean strategy.
  • Conceptualizes the logistic equipment, internal packaging, and tooling applied within the physical material flow.
  • Designs off-line sequence, kitting, and material preparation cells within the logistics area of the plant. 
  • Leads the set-up of external warehouses and sequence centers which interface with the plant. 
  • Designs the internal material flows from dock to point of use delivery within the plant. 
  • Develops work instructions according to QPS coaching standards for logistics operators. 
  • Leads problem solving analysis and process optimization projects connected to in-plant logistics.
  • Investigates process consequences in view of production speed or production volume related changes. 
  • Supports the plant in reaching Hours per Vehicle (HPV) targets on running and new models according to decided targets.
  • Performs M3MU kaizen studies to drive process improvements and changes.
  • Deploys VCMS (Volvo Cars Manufacturing System) principles within all in-plant logistics processes.
  • Maintain and optimize the in-plant logistics processes in terms of QDFIPS (Quality, Safety, Financials, Improvement, People, Safety and Sustainability). 
  • Supports the screening process of packaging in view of improvements. 

What you'll bring

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, logistics engineering, or relevant education, or equal qualifications.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in material flow engineering within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of systems and processes within material flow engineering. 
  • Ability to work independently within a given framework.
  • Ability to work in an international environment.
  • Ability to initiate and coordinate situations where problems occur. 
  • Strong ability to cooperate. 
  • Analytical and proactive mindset. 
  • Carries out all duties and responsibilities with the utmost integrity and the highest ethical standards.
  • Flexible when faced with changing conditions.
  • Strong customer focus and service mindset with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Proficient in MS Office and database applications.  Highly skilled in excel and data analysis.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.  Able to create optimal layouts for the in-plant logistics flow.
