PPM Engineer

As a PPM Engineer within Production Control, the key focus is to align the production plan with demand and optimize shop operational parameters to meet QDFPS targets. This role secures the overall production process by monitoring plan execution across all manufacturing areas and ensuring a stable supply chain flow.

What you'll do

 

  • Track key performance indicators, lead structured problem solving, and implement corrective actions as needed to support continuous improvement.
  • Document processes and work instructions to support training, with annual reviews to identify change points and efficiency improvements.
  • Represent PPM in cross-functional forums related to the VCCH working schedule, production planning, and production control.
  • Align Master Production Schedule volumes and capacity requirements with HQ in Sweden, Plant Supply Chain, and Charleston production departments.
  • Convert the Master Production Schedule into planned orders within the plant MRP system.
  • Manage the customer order book in close cooperation with HQ in Sweden to support production planning and demand alignment.
  • Execute preliminary and fixed sequence planning to support accurate material requirements and provide input for material call-offs to batch and sequence suppliers.
  • Create and maintain multi-year project plans and pre-series build schedules, facilitating cross-functional meetings (RIM) to align shop activities and schedules with project needs.
  • Report pre-series build status on time and escalate gaps to leadership to drive action and support on-time delivery of vehicles from shop to shop.
  • Accurately manage production system parameters and monitor body flow from weld shop to paint shop and from paint shop to final assembly to secure perfect sequence production.
  • Prepare and publish production schedules for weld shop, paint shop, and final assembly, considering the workday calendar, constraints, and capacities of each planning point.
  • Facilitate crisis management meetings with shop teams when potential downtime or significant quality issues arise, ensuring clear action plans are established to optimize production time.
  • Support plant performance reporting by communicating delivery results, identifying cross-functional gaps, and driving action and problem solving in key areas such as Perfect Sequence and Old Cars.

What you'll bring

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field; relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, or engineering may also be considered.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience, preferably within automotive production planning, supply chain, or logistics.
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry and manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of material planning systems and related production planning processes.
  • Knowledge of PPM (pre-production management) processes.
  • Strong project management and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, supported by strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.

 

On a personal level

 

  • Strong, structured problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze issues and drive practical solutions.
  • Strong interest in IT systems, process development, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel (including VBA).
  • Proficiency in SQL; experience with additional programming languages such as Python is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Power BI.
  • Detail-oriented and results-driven mindset.
  • Ability to work and learn independently within a defined framework and flexible environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in an international environment.

Salary Range

•       $80,000 to $90,000

Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, location and company guidelines
