Maintenance PLC Engineer

Job Summary:

The purpose of this role is to ensure the controls systems in the Final Assembly shop are following the Volvo Standard, and to implement continuous improvements to the systems throughout the shop.  This role will be supporting our second shift operations once the second shift has started, but will be on first shift until that split happens.

 

Principle Responsibilities:

  • The candidate must be able to work in a professional Maintenance Engineering team-based environment
  • Maintenance Engineering teams are responsible for the design and integration of control systems for customer applications and processes. The Maintenance Department’s main customer is the Production Department, but also works with Industrialization Engineering, Shop Engineering, as well as other Maintenance Departments
  • PLC and HMI programming, network design, system commissioning, system support, internal/external training, and technical consultation.
  • Ensuring incoming equipment follows the Volvo Standard.
  • Continuous improvements and optimizations on current running equipment.

Job Specifications
Minimum Requirement:

  • 5+ years of Controls Engineering/PLC Programming experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Siemens PLC/HMI Programming
  • Prior experience programming PLCs/HMIs within customer-defined/automotive OEM standards and templates
  • Ability to technically lead up to 3 specialists, 3 engineers, 12 technicians
  • Ability to supervise the progress of 3 or more specialists, engineers, technicians, and designers   

    

Preferred qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a controls related field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent)
  • 15+ years of applicable experience in an industrial environment that includes quoting, design, electrical build, debug, startup, and production-readying of industrial controls equipment
