Let's introduce ourselves

Our Americas-based legal team provides business-focused legal support across the region. We are seeking a highly motivated, engaged, and forward-thinking attorney with a strong interest in contract law and commercial transactions to serve as the primary legal partner to our Procurement team. This position is focused on negotiating and advising on supplier contracts, procurement matters, and other commercial transactions, while supporting employment and litigation matters as needed.

What you'll do

This role offers meaningful ownership, exposure to a broad range of legal issues, and the opportunity to make a real impact in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. Key responsibilities include:

• Provide day-to-day legal support with contracts and commercial legal matters
• Review, revise and negotiate agreements with Volvo Cars’ suppliers
• Provide legal advice and training to the Procurement team on a variety of contract and supply chain matters
• Ensure contracts are consistent with internal guidelines and processes
• Support the development of contract templates, frameworks, and process improvements
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across functions and regions to align legal advice with business objectives
• Support employment and litigation matters, as needed

What you'll bring

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and collaborative with high integrity and a pragmatic approach. Qualifications include:

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction
• 3-5 years of legal experience at a law firm or in an in-house corporate setting
• Required: experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, procurement contracts, supplier agreements, or other complex business transactions
• Additional experience in labor and employment law, litigation management, or product liability could be a plus
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, balanced with the ability to focus on practical outcomes and the big picture
• A team player, with the ability to work independently and to contribute effectively to cross-functional teams
• A proactive, service-oriented approach, with comfort handling matters with limited supervision and often under time pressure
• Creativity and sound judgment in navigating complex or novel legal issues and moving matters forward
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for business partners
