The role of the Geometry Technician is to ensure that the appropriate quality and body geometry can be obtained on cars delivered to our customers.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Perform the necessary adjustments or measurements on the production equipment, so that the appropriate quality and body geometry can be obtained on cars delivered to our customers.
  • Ensure that production is informed prior to the adjustments of process equipment.
  • Perform 1st and 2nd line analysis by continuously monitoring and controlling the geometry outcome with the existing statistical system. CM4D/Trend Machines.
  • Act on measurement errors, to include analyzing, fixing or following-up.
  • Analyze deviations from geo outcomes, being responsible for carrying out the necessary actions and perform analysis to correct the process equipment.
  • Serve as the process geometry expert representative during projects, follow the standard for the geo processing equipment.
  • Participate in working with the measuring equipment, have knowledge in various quality assurance measuring systems, such as Laser trackers, measuring arm, ATOS and new measuring machines.
  • Respond to measurement errors, in connection with the geometry measurements, analyze and fix the errors.
  • Plan and carry out preventative maintenance (PM) and ensure continuous monitoring of the process equipment.
  • Participate in design reviews for new installations, new programs and prototype constructions. Ensure the geometry process according to the process matrix.
  • Work with continuous improvement to prevent geometry problems.
  • In collaboration with the director, make decisions within your own area of responsibility and under current frameworks (economic conditions).
  • Perform verification measurements on the trend station systems and CMM machines, to ensure that they keep their measurement accuracy. Adjust or calibrate to cope with the deviation.
  • Keep a logbook of the whole responsibility area.
  • Run the inline/offline measurement program, when necessary to support the GE’s.
  • Act on alarms/events from production, analyze, fix, and inform the Production and Geometry organization.
  • Ensure the delivery of activities for the coming shift.
  • Participate in decision-making meetings.
  • Work with GE to make decisions within the geometry area of responsibility.
  • Document deviations/analyses according to the decided operation
  • Align with overall objectives and secure implementation results.
  • Communicate and align all activities with internal Volvo Cars stakeholders.
  • Develop tools, models and processes for continuous improvements.
  • Challenge status quo

 

Job Specifications:                            

  • HS diploma and 5 years of experience
  • Lean Manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to work any shift - This posting is specifically for the GEO 3rd shift whcih will run from approx. 9:30PM - 6:10AM - Training would occur during 1st shift hours.

  • Familiar with Polyworks software in measuring and scanning applications (Leica, Faro, Handy Scan, …),
