Geometry Assurance Analyst - Manufacturing Engineering Body Shop

As an Geometry Assurance Analyst within Body, you can work during the complete car program, from early phase to implementation and commissioning in the plant. You will be a part of an Industrialization Engineering team and will contribute to prepare and implement product and manufacturing processes (manual and automated). You will ensure product and process feedback are spread within the Manufacturing Engineering organization, to production and to R&D in order to fulfil the manufacturing attributes (quality, man-hours, cost efficiency, environment, flexibility, and change over). You will be mostly dedicated to secure body geometry, from design review period with contractors until handover to production. The Painted Body & Geo Industrialization section is divided into several groups, where the different group are located out in all our assembly plants. We have staff located in Sweden, Belgium, China, Slovakia and US. The groups are working cross-functional & project oriented, supporting all Volvo assembly plants and projects globally. Within the Painted Body & Geo Industrialization group Body Industrialization US, we are now looking for one new member working as Geometry Assurance Analyst, situated in Charleston plant, US. You will be part of a team on-site in Charleston consisting of engineers originally from US, but also together with engineers from our European and Asian sites.

 

Purpose:
In the role as an Geometry Assurance Analyst, you will act cross-functionally with several interfaces within Volvo Cars. Main tasks:
An Geometry Assurance Analyst in Body Industrialization US is encouraged to develop his/her skills within the fields of process design simulation, car body geometry analysis and plant process design. This in order to:  · Develop, implement and verify product and processes for body shop taking time, technique, cost in consideration. This to assure high product quality, safety of operations and fulfilment of given targets of KPI’s.
· Assure flawless introduction of car programs in body shop. · Support concept investigations and plant engineering functions, when geometry skillsets are needed.
· Continuously strive for commonality where it is needed within our Volvo Cars plants.
· Plan, establish, and confirm activities within the field of geometry on behalf of the responsibility area of Manufacturing.
· Verify the geometry systems within the area regarding product and process influence as well as decided geometrical final requirements.
· Perform virtual analysis of plant process design using PLM toolsets. This is done both for new car development programs and modification to existing lines of several reasons.

· Strive for that the “Digital Twin” is kept up-to-date with the real plant installation.

· Work close together with equipment and process suppliers and build networks to assure successful installations in the plant to start-up production in the best way.

Required skills:

· University degree in an appropriate engineering field.

· Ability to travel with high frequency.

· English in spoken and written.

 

Preferred skills:
- Experience in body geometry systems and what requirements that we normally have on our body shop processes and equipment to secure geometry.

· Practical experience of the automotive production process. · Knowledge about the processes and methods used within the Manufacturing Engineering area

· Experience in PLM tools such as Teamcenter, Catia and Process Designer/Simulate.
