Body Shop Superintendent

The Production Superintendent will lead and direct supervisors and manage all operations within their area of responsibility. Plans, directs, and coordinates the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.
The Production Superintendent will be a part of the Shop Management Team and will enforce the Volvo Cars’ culture.
What you'll do
- Lead, direct and manage operations within the assigned area of responsibility.
- Coach people and support/provide Supervisors and teams with the prerequisites required to achieve priorities and targets.
- Full production system utilization and optimization within area of responsibility.
- Priority management based on Real Time Management.
- Plans department activities, implements company initiatives, handles people management and escalated people issues within his/her area.
- Coach, trains and develops people.
- Responsible for future model launches in their area of responsibility.
- Early involvement in projects: consisting of new model, introduction of additional shifts, plant expansions, new equipment, new techniques, etc.
- Develop and control cost, quality, delivery and safety objectives.
- Review man-hours, cost, performance and ratio plans with supervisors, in order to reach the set targets.
- Reviews continuous improvement proposals and internal abnormality investigation and provide resources to implement countermeasures.
- Provide supervisors with necessary infrastructure and empowerment to achieve business goals.
- Responsible for the daily production results within area of responsibility.
- Responsible for performance of activities connected to "Year over Year" efficiency improvements.
- Ensure the implementation of and adherence to Volvo Car Manufacturing System within the entire area of responsibility.
- Produce and deliver products according to specifications using continuous improvement tools and with the authority to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Work towards an excellent relationship within the area of responsibility and with other Volvo units worldwide.
- Work towards a lean organization.
- Foster standardized work through Quality Process System and daily coaching activities.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or 8-10 years of experience in a senior leadership role.
- At least 5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing industry, in a similar role.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Strategic thinking and goal oriented.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build a team, confidence and trust at all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem-solving/analysis skills.
- Experience working in a global environment is preferred.
