What We Are Looking For:

 

The Volvo Car Assembly Shop is seeking a Area Maintenance Technician (Data Application Programmer) to support our assembly manufacturing operations at our Charleston/Ridgeville South Carolina Plant.


The Area Maintenance Technician (Data Application Programmer) will work with Assembly Maintenance Engineers to fulfill continuous improvement and optimization tasks and to design, develop, and maintain software applications and data-driven solutions


The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills, experience in database management, and the ability to develop and optimize applications for efficiency and scalability.
 

What you'll do

Principal Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide technical guidance towards Multi-Craft Maintenance Technicians
  • Assist the Assembly Maintenance Engineer in evaluating and updating the Microsoft Power BI.
  • Assist the Assembly Maintenance Engineer in RCA of extended downtime events.  Help implement Permanent Corrective Actions
  • Use prior experience to give feedback on incoming equipment to the Reliability & Maintainability Engineer
  • Assist the Engineers and Planner with creating critical spare parts lists and PMs for new equipment
  • Create improvement proposals and execute tasks resulting from improvement proposals.
  • Data tracking of MTTR and MDT
  • Ability to setup/maintain SCADA systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug automation systems.
  • Experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, or process control environments.
  • Understanding of safety standards.
  • PLC Programing: Ladder Logic, FBD, and STL.
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics and wiring.
  • HMI development
  • Develop, test, and maintain applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, Java, and SQL or relevant programming languages.

What you'll bring

Job Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field are a plus.
  • Technical certifications in PLC programming, industrial automation, or Siemens systems are a plus.
  • Proven experience and technical knowledge in Manufacturing Maintenance environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • At least 2 years’ experience with Siemens TIA Portal for PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI
  • Must be able to work any shift.
  • Basic hand/power tool familiarity
  • The ability to read and interpret manufacturing specifications or work instructions.
  • Availability to work any shift (weekends, holidays and overtime).
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job such as lifting and moving up to 50lbs., standing for extended periods, bending, squatting or kneeling.
