What you'll do

Role Description:

As Accounting Manager for Volvo Car USA – Charleston plant, you will be located in Charleston, SC reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager. Your main responsibilities are to develop the accounting processes for our Charleston Plant in line with the Volvo Cars’ cultural values, drive results with focus on efficiency and quality in financial reporting via cross functional collaboration, process standardization and automation. Together with our teams, you will be in a key position to make sure that we are offering premium user experience and service quality to our business partners, suppliers & respective legal entities across Volvo Cars.  
You will be a leader in a global organization that operates based on Shared Service Centers model (i.e. One Finance) which would aspire you to set up right structures and Record to Report (R2R) that bring harmonization and efficiency to our finance organization. Strong leadership along with broad technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting acumen in line with established general accounting principles (IFRS, US GAAP) are key requirements for this role.

 

Job Responsibilities:

•    Overall responsible for accounting activity and transactions for all areas within an entity, including those performed by shared service centers located in various other countries.
•    Provide accounting expertise and “act as a consultant” to the organisation as it relates to new business setups, review of actuals, and the impacts of transactions 
•    Develop processes around and perform preparation of journal vouchers and account reconciliations that require significant accounting judgements and estimates and ensure judgements and estimates comply with the relevant accounting standards
You will have overall responsibility for the closing process, ensuring the quality of the numbers and reporting them to our central organization.
•    Investigation and analysis of accounting discrepancies and interaction with the required department to resolve them. This includes collaboration with departments both globally and locally.
•    You will have the overall responsibility for the closing and reporting process, ensuring the quality of the numbers, consolidate and report them to headquarters.
•    Analyze, follow up and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) of general accounting, closing and reporting processes
•    Interface directly with external auditors and other consultants 
•    Report out to senior management at minimum on a monthly basis including supporting with ad-hoc accounting analysis.

What you'll bring

•    Bachelors in Accounting or Finance required
•    5-7 years of previous accounting or relevant finance experience required 
•    Experience includes analysis of complex generally accepted accounting principles and IFRS with application to real-world transactions in a fast-paced environment and demonstrated maturity in business judgment.
•    Must be able to work independently while remaining a team player.
•    Result driven and ability to prioritize to deliver on ranging commitments with tight deadlines 
•    Role model of Volvo Cars’ Culture
•    Tech-savvy, energetic with Can-Do mind-set
•    Experience with SAP a plus
