Battery Center Manager for Volvo Battery Center (Dallas)

Northlake, TX


What We Are Looking For:

This individual will be responsible for the management and oversight of the US Volvo Battery Center daily operations and is responsible for all on-site activity within the BC facility. This position will be based in Dallas, TX (Northlake) and will report to the Head of Battery Lifecycles Services & Aftersales Ops for the Americas market. Oversight of the repair of damage packs, parts from production, and the retailer network for reuse. This role will also be responsible for finalizing the Dallas BC construction and the implementation of the repair process.


A Day in the Life:


Production & Repair

  • Secure production output from Battery Center, responsible for production planning and KPI follow-up on weekly basis.
  • Manage repair process, production plans and approach taken by BC technicians.
  • Secure that the logistics and parts inventory supports battery pack repairs and production.
  • Ability to manage production output for multiple battery variants and market needs. Future production of “packs to order” and new packs.
  • Quality oversight of repair process and production output.
  • Handling warranty and regress needs around battery material.


Material & Parts Planning:

  • Material planning with appointed buyer from Parts Supply & Logistics (PS&L).
  • Ensure sufficient storage space within the responsibility area.
  • Implement standardized processes with PS&L that relate to the BC operations, specific to market and region.


Personnel, Equipment, & Facilities:

  • Work environment oversight, including safety.
  • Develop/modify/maintain competence for personnel.
  • Secure that equipment is available for the operators. Including procurement, purchasing, calibration and forecasting for equipment.
  • Secure maintenance contracts are in place for needed equipment.


Core Management

  • Control over battery cores in flow (BEV inbound for repairs only)
  • Control over core storages (BEV & PHEV)
  • Data and statistics management for Battery Pack Orders, Core Return Tracking, Transport Tracking, etc.

What you will bring to Volvo:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management (or related field) or 10+ years proven equivalent work experience.
  • PMP, PgMP, CAPM, and/or comparable project management certifications highly desirable.
  • Prior automotive OEM and fixed operations experience preferred.
  • General knowledge on electric vehicles and an ability to interact with our technical team regarding repair methods and tools.
  • Advanced Microsoft Power Point and Excel skills.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally. (Approximately 15-20%)
