We are seeking a Supplier Performance Management Engineer for our team in Mexico
The SPM Engineer is responsible for managing quality and delivery performance of supplier manufacturing locations regarding supplier manufacturing process performance, both for new programs and running production to prevent and correct disturbances to Volvo Cars plants.
The purpose with the role is to pro-actively evaluate and manage the supplier manufacturing and logistics systems & related processes to eliminate all variability issues from suppliers (Quality and Delivery). Collaborates with other professionals to refine product and process designs to increase feasibility and flow, in order to improve quality and decrease costs.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with Global Category Team for respective Categories
- Lead the planning and execution of audit activities across the global organization, ensuring that the level of audit intervention is commensurate with business risk and that key areas of risk are prioritized. Identify organization-wide issues, securing appropriate business process or system improvements. Ensure that relevant governance committees are informed of significant issues and the actions being taken to resolve these. Identify and manage stakeholders up to management level, finding out their needs/issues/concerns and reacting to these by leading and coordinating the development of stakeholder engagement plans to support the communication of business information and decisions.
- Manage and lead with appropriate stakeholders the development of design and processes.
- Develop and write materials that are highly visible, such as sensitive presentations to critical audiences.
- Drive Program Launch with Volvo Stakeholders and Supplier Team.
- Monitor and manage a wide range of activities of a significant team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements by liaising with all internal risk management functions while supporting the development and implementation of the organization's compliance policy.
- Contribute to development for procedures and interprets and applies policy for area of expertise to achieve specified outputs, or advise the wider business on application of policy, then monitor implementation of those procedures within the organization.
- Provide internal and external training or coaching to others in own area of expertise to enable performance improvement.
- Provide specialist guidance on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving complex or contentious queries and issues and enabling others to take appropriate actions.
- Annual phase - Support Commodity Business Plans, CBP
- Sourcing - Perform supplier evaluations prior to sourcing decision
- Program and launch phase - Participate in APQP reviews, drive resolution of supplier related actions, communicate risks with Program Management team, secure PPAP delivery to required timing
- Running operations - Perform regular systemic assessments and drive deviation resolution. Drive continuous improvement of suppliers (incl. VQE). Drive resolution of quality incidents (8D process) and delivery issues (incl. constraint cases).
What you'll bring
- Technical university degree or equivalent
- Computer skills (MS Office and especially Excel)
- Experience from automobile industry
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% - 70% of working time
- Language skills: fluent in written and oral English
