What you’ll do

Through business partnering and the use of digital tools, we are steering performance, championing compliance, and driving sustainable growth. Reporting to the Financial Controller UK, the Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and securing efficiencies in the company’s working capital as well as providing business partnering support to the distribution department of Volvo Car UK. The role will provide accounting support to the Financial Controller and Finance Management team and will be in close collaboration with our overseas Accounts Payable, Receivable and Accounting teams.  Proactively search for opportunities and make plans to mitigate risk and avoid pitfalls. Actively drive to deliver goals and sustainable growth. This is a 12-month FTC position with potential to become permanent.

 

Your key deliverables will include:

  • Produce rolling 12-month cashflow/working capital forecast
  • Help create tools to monitor and report stock levels on a regular basis
  • Report on slow moving and/or ageing stock, develop necessary tools in close collaboration with Commercial Operations
  • Develop procedures for tracking stock at physical locations and methodologies for stock take, In collaboration with UK logistics, group accounting and auditors,
  • Manage stock levels within the company working capital targets
  • Assists with overseeing receivables and payables, follow up and secure that shared service center is taking appropriate and timely actions
  • Support Accounting Cluster team with tax reporting & compliance
  • Support Financial Controller with annual internal control reporting & compliance
  • Support the financial forecast and annual business planning process as required
  • Call for actions and follow up that agreed tasks are completed
  • Support Financial Controller with Finance Business Partnering to internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Continually evaluates the effectiveness of the function and seeks to improve
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with shareholders, stakeholders, retailers, customers and relevant industry bodies and regulatory bodies
  • To effectively manage and lead their business area to ensure VCUK delivers against the annual plan and budget. Sets high standards and performance goals aligned with the VCUK’s objectives and leads others to achieve these goals.
  • Ensures that their business area is delivering on all strategic objectives
  • Manage the resources available to ensure they keep within cost budgets.
  • Continuous review of processing efficiency and control effectiveness, ensuring maximum efficiencies are delivered within an effective minimum control framework.
  • Continually evaluates the effectiveness of the function and seeks to improve. 
  • Provides leading-edge products and services ensuring that VCUK retains its competitive edge as a premium service provider.


What you’ll bring


The successful candidate will have: 

  • Newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Excellent accounting and governance skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and with a knack for detail
  • SAP ERP systems experience
  • We are looking for someone who can lead independently and bring high levels of expertise in the field
