What you’ll do

Reporting to the Commercial Operations Director, you will be creative in delivering the strategic direction for all New Car Sales including Ecommerce Trading activities whilst creating an environment that inspires a high-performance culture. Proactively driving the performance and initiatives across the sales funnel to identify and maximise opportunities for new car sales volume and revenue, directly responsible for retail orders.  With a growth mindset, you will provide stretch thinking and recommendations, challenging the status quo, through influence and consultation on tactical proposals including planning, offer, pricing and campaigns and improvements to the consumer journeys. This role is empowered to work with the EMT to deliver the strategic goals of the business.    

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving change and create an environment that reduces costs and maximises profit 
  • Use innovative and strategic thinking with local, regional and global product owners to deliver a great experience for customers and suppliers
  • Balance the commercial requirements to deliver the New Car Sales plans
  • Working closely with the Commercial Operations direction, outline and deliver VCUK’s New Car commercial strategy, both short and medium term
  • Work closely with the wider Commercial and Consumer teams to deliver improvements to consumer experience 
  • Lead, motivate and inspire a high performing team to deliver class leading business results. 
  • Develop people’s potential through coaching, mentoring and guidance 
  • Create an environment of delivery that drives results through a high performing team culture 
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with stakeholders, EMG and all other internal departments across VCUK/VCFS 
  • Forge a relationship of mutual trust and respect with the Retailer Network 
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Sales Team, Ecommerce Trading team and Commercial Reporting Function 
  • Effectively lead strategy, execution, and optimisation of your business area to ensure sales delivers against the annual plan and budget
  • Set high standards and performance goals aligned with the UK Executive Management Team objectives and leads others to achieve these goals
  • Ensure that your business area is delivering on all strategic objectives set by Executive Management team 
  • Foster a change environment and ensure direct reports are focused on implementing change that will deliver tangible business results / improvements  
  • Continuous review of processing efficiency and control effectiveness, ensuring maximum efficiencies are delivered within an effective minimum control framework  
  • Continually evaluate the effectiveness of the function and seeks to improve   
  • Provide leading-edge products and services ensuring that VCUK retains its competitive edge as a premium service provider

 

What you’ll bring

The successful candidate will have:

  • Held a senior Sales / Sales Operations role within the last 24 months responsible for delivering against volume and profit driven targets through an extensive team 
  • Demonstrate driving organisational change to maximise efficiency and performance in the last 24 months 
  • Experience of communicating and negotiating at the most senior levels 
  • The ability to lead and work in a multi-skilled diverse team and have an agile attitude   
  • You will need to thrive under pressure and display a resilient and positive outlook in what can be a highly pressurised environment 
  • Purpose driven leader with a strong desire to deliver market leading solutions in the automotive sector
  • Situational adaptability in an environment with shifting demands  
  • A collaborative leader, with experience in building relationships
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • A detailed knowledge of the UK Automotive marketplace and its sales channel development  
  • A close relationship with our Retailer network 
  • Experience of Omnichannel sales within a premium or luxury segment
