This position is responsible for accounting for and reporting the financial results of Volvo Car Financial Services (VCFS) and Polestar Financial Services (PFS) on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis using SAP and Hyperion FM, assisting with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns, assisting with state licensing and tax audits, implementing process improvements and coordinating with the Volvo Car USA and Polestar US accounting teams supporting VCFS. The candidate will also analyze financial performance relative to plans and provide insight and recommendations to management aimed at improving performance of the business. 

What you'll do

•    Perform monthly journal entries and account reconciliations. Review vendor invoices for accuracy.

•    Report the monthly, quarterly and annual financial results to the management of VCFS, and report VCFS information into SAP and Hyperion.  This involves the preparation and review of the financial information based on reporting forms as prescribed by VCC.

•    Coordinate financial reporting processes with VCUSA and Polestar US accounting teams supporting VCFS and PFS, and act as SAP Administrator. 

•    Develop and maintain the financial model used to prepare forecasts, budgets and financial projections, as needed. In addition, monitor and update key assumptions used within the financial model. 

•    Monitor and analyze financial performance relative to plans and provide insights to management.

•    Coordinate with Volvo Treasury to ensure appropriate level of cash.

•    Provide assistance to external vendors with the preparation of the Federal and State tax returns. Participate in state audits related to financing, leasing, sales tax and other compliance requirements. Assist with financial statement requirements associated with license filings. Prepare limited number of corporate tax filings.

•    Manage intercompany transactions with VCUSA and Polestar US, such as rate and residual value subvention, as well as end of term lease transactions.

•    Assist with providing annual report filings for various states.

•    Responsible for running and updating performance reports on a monthly basis. Required to analyze and ensure the accuracy of the data, identifying trends and key insights to support business decisions. 

•    Coordinate information with GAP and Excess & Contingent Insurance providers for the respective policies and maintain corresponding financial settlement procedures.

•    Monitor data integrity of retail finance originations and recommend corrections, as needed.  

•    Assist with the development of financial & operational procedures required to manage the sales finance and leasing companies.

•    Assist Management Team with special projects as required.
 

What you'll bring

Education:
•    BA/BS in Accounting/Finance required

    Experience
•    3 – 5 years of accounting experience, financial services experience preferred
    
    Skills
•    Ability to analyze financial transactions
•    Understanding of the auto leasing and finance business
•    Understanding of corporate income tax, as well as sales & use taxes
•    MS Office skills including Excel and Power point
•    Proficiency with SAP, Hyperion and SQL
•    Verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings to management
