At Volvo Cars, we are pushing the boundaries of automotive innovation and seeking a Staff Security Engineer. Our Security team is committed to delivering a safe and secure digital experience to our employees, customers, and retailers located in the U.S. and Canada.

Position Overview:

In this role, you will report to the Information Security Officer (ISO) and support teams in building and operating products that meet security and privacy requirements. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse team of professionals and a large degree of autonomy. You will have the chance to work with the latest technologies and tools, while also developing step-change improvements in the way we do business.

Key responsibilities

• Advises cross-functional teams on technology selections and decisions to achieve target state cybersecurity on improvements to current cybersecurity parameters
• Collaborates to create accessible and scalable coding frameworks on the public cloud for new system design patterns
• Develops secure and high-quality practices for code review and debugging  
• Guidance to facilitate thought leadership within the technical landscape
• Ensures our technical methods in cybersecurity are in line with the latest development methodologies
• Creates durable, reusable software frameworks that improves velocity and quality of output across teams and functions

Requirements

• 7 to 10 year experience security architecture role
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CSSLP, CASE, or GWEB
• Practical experience in cybersecurity architecture that can be applied and reused across digital teams, functions, and systems
• Experience in handling and assessing technical risk.
• Comprehensive skills in Cloud security Data security, Infrastructure security, Endpoint/Platform security, Security Analytics, Authentication/Identity Management, Mobile Security, or Application Security.
• Experience conducting architectural and code reviews
• Influencing growth in our community of practice regarding public cloud environments; Azure and AWS
• Knowledge of applied cryptography and security protocols, such as Transport Layer Security, OAuth, OpenID Connect
• Programming experience in at least one of the following languages (C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript)
• Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity architecture, applications, and technical processes with considerable, in-depth knowledge in public cloud, and mobile app development
• Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning would be beneficial.
• Effectively communicates with senior leaders and executives and has a high level of integrity and confidentiality as it relates to the organization.
