Salesforce Engineering Lead

We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Engineering Lead to join our Assist and Support Engineering team accountable for partnering with key individuals (e.g. product owners, engineers, technology managers, etc.) to design solutions which are aligned with architecture principles, leverage common solutions, and best-practices. The Salesforce Engineering Lead will drive both technical and functional designs alongside our product teams.

 

What we are looking for:

The Engineering Lead is responsible for guiding developers in designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions built on the Volvo Cars Salesforce platform. The individual will orchestrate the development, quality, and configurations built by Product teams within the Salesforce platform. The individual will partner closely with product owners, engineering leads, DevOps, architects, and integration engineers to continuously monitor, review, update, and implement new platform features/functionality, reduce technical debt, and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions within the Volvo Cars Salesforce digital platform.

A day in the life:

Technical Leadership

  • Under direction of Sr. Architect, review and integrate all application requirements into architecture design, including functional, security (authentication & authorization), integration, performance, quality, and operational needs.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their strengths and project requirements. Align project designs ensuring minimal customization and maximum reusability
  • Mentor team members in technology, architecture, and delivery of applications.
  • Partner to solve to complex problems, successfully manage ambiguity and unexpected change.

Development Oversight

  • Oversee and delegate the direction, development, and implementation of Salesforce solutions.
  • Participates with release management & incident management teams (i.e. Service Now)
  • Stay updated on Salesforce platform updates, industry trends, and emerging technologies to ensure the team remains at the forefront of development practices.

Prioritization & Planning

  • Design flexible, scalable, and robust solutions for Salesforce to meet the dynamic needs of various projects on Sales Cloud, Experience Cloud, Service Cloud, CRM Analytics, etc.
  • Drives the adoption of Salesforce best practices; considers existing solutions and can provide multiple perspectives. Builds upon standard processes for development
  • Perform technical solution reviews and provide recommendations to improve adoption and usage.

Scrum & Project Management

  • Act as a Scrum Master for the development team, facilitating sprint planning, stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure the team follows Agile methodologies and practices, continuously improving processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with product owners to refine and prioritize the product backlog

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, UX/UI, and system administrators, to ensure seamless integration and deployment of Salesforce solutions.
  • Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and the development team, ensuring alignment with project objectives.

What you bring to Volvo

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of direct experience with developing, configuring, and implementing successful Salesforce project implementations
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience on Salesforce & Force platform as an Architect, Developer, Engineering Lead or related role
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce best practices and methodologies
  • Experience with data modeling, standard/custom/external objects, managing different kind of data relationships within Salesforce platform is a must
  • Experience in Aura, LWCs, VF Pages/Apex with strong, hands-on exposure and familiarity with SDLC best practices.
  • Experience with the design of Salesforce integrations utilizing either loosely coupled (event driven architecture) or tightly coupled (using Web services (REST/SOAP) or data integration tools/middleware (i.e. MuleSoft)).
  • Strong knowledge with salesforce authentication mechanism such as SSO (using SAML or OAuth), MFA, Connected Apps, Delegated Authentication etc.
  • Familiar with various Salesforce platform limits (i.e. governor limits) including but not limited to email, Apex, SOQL, CPU limits, etc.
  • Knowledge handing big data scenarios and ability to articulate solutions to ensure acceptable performance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, decision making, and problem solving skills. Ability to articulate and present different points-of-views on various technologies.
  • Salesforce Administrator and Developer Certifications required.
  • Salesforce Architecture Certifications preferred

You might also have

  • Experience with technologies like AWS, Azure, Marketing Cloud, and Snowflake is a plus.
  • Experience working with Agile teams and use of tools such as Azure DevOps/Jira, etc.
  • Experience with DevOps processes and CI/CD processes/tools, such as Azure DevOps/Copado
