This role may be located at regional headquarters in Mahwah, New Jersey, or in Charleston, South Carolina.

 

Join Us. As the Head of Compliance & Ethics, you will report to the Global Head of Compliance & Ethics. You will be the senior compliance and ethics professional in the region and will have the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and take on various challenges, big and small, in a truly dynamic and international environment. In this role you will:

  • Function as part of the global Compliance & Ethics Office, helping to develop and implement strategies to manage risk.
  • Provide advice and support to the business units and other staff functions of Volvo Cars Group within relevant areas of Compliance & Ethics (anti-corruption, anti-competitive behavior, trade sanctions, human rights as well as other Code of Conduct related matters).
  • Localize and implement the Compliance & Ethics programs within the US-Canada and Latin America Regions in coordination with regional and local leadership teams.
  • Serve as a key contributor to global engagement with importers, retailers, and other strategic business partners.
  • Aid in the business in evaluation and engagement of trustworthy business partners through effective conduct of due diligence and design of monitoring/oversight processes.
  • Enhance visibility of Compliance & Ethics across relevant business units and continue to build awareness and accountability among key stakeholders.
  • Report progress, challenges, and plans to the Global Head of Compliance and Ethics, executive leadership, and appropriate oversight bodies within the organization.
  • Research, enable, and deliver tools and support to ensure that Volvo Cars business is conducted in compliance with applicable rules and regulations and in an ethical manner.

 

Who You Are. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and collaborative with high integrity and a pragmatic approach. While the ability to develop and implement strategy is important, an ability to deliver timely and practical solutions our business colleagues is a priority.

 

Required qualifications:

  • 10-12 years of professional experience with at least 7 years of experience building and driving compliance and ethics programs in a multinational organization.
  • Sound understanding of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Embody and demonstrate a high level of integrity and ability to build trust.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently and to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive and customer-oriented mindset, with the ability to deliver high-quality and practical solutions to complex challenges that require careful analysis and good judgement, often under time pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain complex issues in a simple way to business partners, leadership, and other stakeholders​.
  • Very high level of business acumen and ability to ‘operationalize’ compliance and ethics policies and anticipate/solve related challenges.

 

Additional qualifications:

  • JD with an active license to practice law is not required but may be helpful to this role.
  • Professional qualifications such as a CCEP or similar certifications are a plus.
  • A data-driven mindset and ability to analyze complex data sets and scenarios would be highly beneficial in this role.
