As Senior Accountant, you will be based in Mahwah, NJ and be part of a team that has six highly skilled & competent members. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the accounting and reporting responsibilities within for Volvo Cars entities in the Americas Region. The primary responsibilities of this role will focus on financial accounting, closing and reporting of Volvo Cars entities in the region. Additionally, this role will act as book closing coordinator and reporter towards Group Accounting & Reporting teams at the headquarters in Sweden. This role will also be a vital lead in resolving the internal controls’ discrepancies and be main point of contact towards external auditors for close cooperation to meet set audit timelines. Collaboration with Finance colleagues globally, business function teams at our Americas HQ in Mahwah NJ, Finance SSC in Chennai, India and our Global Accounting Center in Madrid, Spain will be key to success in this role.

 

What you’ll do?

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure all journal entries are processed and drive the month end closing/reporting activities within assigned area of responsibility
  • Execute financial reporting into a global system for group consolation purposes as it relates to relevant areas
  • Improve account reconciliations process and relevant control activities to secure complete and accurate financial statements for entities in scope
  • Investigation and analysis of accounting discrepancies and interact with the required department to resolve them
  • Act as main point of contact for additional periodic reporting towards Group Finance teams, especially in quarters, semiannual and annual closings
  • Lead the resolution of internal control discrepancies and self-assessment process execution
  • Lead different projects in the areas of responsibility to develop new business setups and knowledge
  • Support the continuous development, digitalization of processes to maximize accuracy and efficiency for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Main lead of interface with external auditors
  • Monitor changes in IFRS, local US GAAP and Group Accounting Policies as they relate to assigned area of responsibility
  • Early in adapting & applying latest digital technologies available to automate finance & accounting activities

 

 

Who are we looking for?

 

  • University degree in accounting or equivalent with approximately 5 years of relevant experience from reputed organizations
  • Exceptional abilities that make you special than the rest, high drive to lead positive change
  • Excellent knowledge of Finance processes and policies and full ability of applying these in daily operations
  • Ability to work and be comfortable in a dynamic environment under continuous development
  • Proactive with great interpersonal skills and communicate in a clear and direct way, drive results while building trust and relations within the organization
  • Tech-savvy, energetic with Can-Do mind-set and eager to lead
  • Strong interpersonal & network building skills
  • Fluent in English, verbally and written.

 

System Competences

  • MS Office 365 applications, SAP S/4 Hana experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of automation tools (robotics and others) is preferred.
