Accounting, Senior Specialist

What We Are Looking For:

The Global Accounting Delivery (GAD) team is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team to join Volvo’s General Accounting & Reporting (GAR) team supporting the Americas region national sales companies. This role will primarily be responsible form managing inventory reporting, overseeing revenue recognition processes (including accountability for deferred revenues) Volvo on Call reporting, managing certain accruals and prepaids, providing regular cash flow updates and managing CO2 reporting.

A day in the life:

• Prepare and process journal voucher entries (JVs), perform account reconciliations and relevant control activities, and drive the month-end closing/reporting activities within the assigned area of responsibility in SAP and reporting in Oracle Hyperion FM and/or One Stream system for global consolidation purposes.
• Support the continuous development and harmonization of processes to maximize accuracy and efficiency for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Interface with external auditors and other consultants as necessary. Support with external audit by analyzing general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
• Investigate and resolve account discrepancies or issues. Take ownership of designated areas and assigned ad hoc areas to drive results and improvements.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls; ensure compliance with US GAAP and IFRS principles as necessary.
• Build collaborative network by engaging with stakeholders in various departments globally.

What you will bring to Volvo:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and/or Master’s in accounting
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, macros) and other MS Office 365 applications
• Familiarity with IFRS
• Proven skills in effective communication, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration

You might also have:

• CPA license
• CMA or IFRS certification
• Experience with ERP system changes (will be from SAP ECC to SAP S4/HANA)
• Professional background in public accounting, preferably in auditing and assurance
