Senior Cyber Security Engineer

To mitigate the security threats presented to a complex vehicle control system, we need solid foundation of competence within the area of Cybersecurity. This is where you can come in, a passioned Cybersecurity Engineer who likes to support development ART’s and teams in their cyber security work. This position is centrally organized on solution level to support all ART’s and teams within SVA. Each ART have dedicated engineers within the field of cyber security who will be your main contacts.

 

What you’ll do

In this role, as Senior Cybersecurity Unit Engineer Attribute Leader, you will:

 

  • Help develop the strategy for long term sustainable cybersecurity work in the unit
  • Support teams in the unit in planning and executing cybesecurity activites in product development
  • Help management in risk decisions
  • Participate in process- and way of working improvements
  • Conduct CS trainings to engineers
  • Provide support for supplier management and cybersecurity joint review with product owner and supplier.

 

You and your skills

We believe that you have a M.Sc. or higher degree in Software, Electrical, Computer engineering with cybersecurity specialization, or equivalent education and a strong understanding for the threat landscape of a connected device and the mitigation mechanisms needed for protection.

 

Some preferred experiences and competences

  • Good understanding of automotive cybersecurity best practices, standards (e.g., ISO 21434) and regulations (e.g., UNECE R155).

  • 5-10 years working experience
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written with good communication skills.

  • Strong communication skills for conveying complex security issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including developers, engineers, and management.
  • Experience in conducting security training and awareness programs.
  • Experience in leading cybersecurity projects from conception to deployment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

 

Fundamental knowledge of automotive cybersecurity;

  • Understanding of in-vehicle networks (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet).
  • Familiarity with Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and their functions.
  • Knowledge of automotive operating systems and software architecture.
  • Strong grasp of cryptography principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of threat modeling and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Expertise in secure coding practices and code review.

 

Additional skills where applicant should fulfill some of;

 

Automotive Security Standards and Regulations:

  • Familiarity with standards such as ISO/SAE 21434, AUTOSAR, and MISRA.
  • Understanding of regulations like GDPR, UNECE R155, and NHTSA guidelines.

Compliance and Audit:

 

  • Understanding of compliance requirements for automotive cybersecurity.
  • Ability to develop and maintain security documentation and policies.

 

Vulnerability Assessment:

  • Proficiency in vulnerability assessment tools and techniques
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential security threats.

 

Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC):

  • Familiarity with integrating security into the software development lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and tools.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

 

Network & Embedded Systems Security:

 

  • Understanding of network security principles and practices.
  • Experience with intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
  • Proficiency in securing embedded systems within vehicles.
  • Knowledge of hardware security modules (HSMs) and trusted platform modules (TPMs).
  • Experience with secure boot and firmware update mechanisms.

 

System Integration and Testing

  • Knowledge of integrating security solutions into automotive systems.
  • Experience with system testing, validation, and verification.
  • Ability to develop and execute test plans for security features.
