We are looking for a Public Affairs Officer to join its Public Affairs (PA) team for the European Union (EU) and open an office in Bratislava, Slovakia.  The PA EU function is part of Volvo Cars’ global Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement team (PASET) with colleagues located across Europe and the Americas. This position reports to Volvo Car’s EU Public Affairs Director based in Brussels. 

This exciting opportunity will give the successful candidate the chance to join a dynamic, fast changing company, engage with a wide range of stakeholders, shape government policies and help promote Volvo Cars’ interests and business, while supporting activies in Slovakia, a country which hosts the building of a new production facility for electric vehicles.

The Public Affairs Officer will be responsible for establishing our presence in Bratislava, developing relationships with external government and non government stakeholders in Slovakia and neighbouring countries, while coordinating with colleagues at the production facility in Kosice. The person will also work on EU policies and initiatives in close cooperation with the Brussels office and is expected to be able to travel there and to Gothenburg, Sweden, regularly. 

 

We are looking for a candidate ready to take initiative and perform actions to influence various policy processes, in line with our company’s corporate strategies and business targets. 

 

About the role:

 

  • Represent VCC in Slovakia and neighbouring countries
  • Develop and nurture strong network with relevant policy makers and stakeholders at national and EU levels
  • Support the preparation and implementation of the company’s public affair strategy
  • Identify and shape policy initiatives at national and EU level with strong impact on VCC 
  • Identify relevant regional stakeholder engagement and thought leadership opportunities, in conjunction with PASET colleagues.
  • Participate in and represent VCC in meetings held by EU institutions, trade associations and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Work in close cooperation with the Kosice team to leverage our new production plant in the PA strategy

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Degree Qualified with working experience in or excellent knowledge of European Union institutions, politics, policies and processes;
  • Knowledge of – and interest in – trade, international relations and economics; 
  • Strong communication, analysis and diplomatic skills as well as organizational skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a geographically-spread team;
  • Interest in, and understanding of, automotive and manufacturing issues is desirable;
  • Excellent command of the English and Slovak language – verbal and written;
  • Flexibility to travel.

Location: Bratislava

 

Salary for this position starting from 2,800 EUR, per month, gross.

The salary amount represents the minimum guaranteed amount of the basic salary component applicable to the job. Final salary is negotiable and will be adjusted in accordance with seniority level and previous experience of candidate. In addition to the monthly salary, there is also a 13th salary paid in an aliquot amount and a performance bonus depending on the company's financial results and individual performance.
