Robotics Engineer - Body in White Manufacturing Engineering (VCK)

Be a part of the electric future of Volvo Cars
It’s crystal clear: The actions we take in the next few years will significantly impact our future. We’re committed to transforming the automotive industry and leading in electrification. To make sure we deliver on our big plans, we’ll need to expand our current manufacturing footprint. That’s why we’ve decided to open a new state-of-the-art electric only car factory – and this time we’re expanding in Kosice, Slovakia.

The new plant will only use climate neutral energy and be designed to be a leader in sustainable and efficient premium electric car production. We will optimize layout and logistics flow to achieve the highest global standards in energy and environmental efficiency.

This is a unique opportunity to be a part of building something completely new, setting a new standard for Volvo manufacturing. Jump in and join the ride!

Let's introduce ourselves

Body in White is where the car's structure takes shape — the stage where stamped parts become a complete, welded body. It's one of the most automated areas in the plant, built around robotic welding and joining, precise geometry, and tight quality standards. This is where the foundation of every vehicle's safety and durability is set, and where robotics and manufacturing engineering come together to make it happen.

What you'll do

  • Take ownership of the robotic aspects of our Body in White lines — installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement of robot function packages (hardware and software).
  • Provide robotics engineering support across all project phases, including line layouts, simulation, cell alignment, and virtual commissioning.
  • Ensure equipment is installed and commissioned to Volvo standards to secure high availability and uptime for the plant.
  • Improve the stability, availability, cost efficiency, and simplicity of our equipment on an ongoing basis.
  • Contribute robotics input to production line design reviews and help update installation and commissioning guidelines.
  • Track and follow up on open issues, identify project risks, and define countermeasures and backup plans.
  • Analyze the root causes of equipment failures and drive the corrective actions through to completion.
  • Perform robot-related checks throughout project milestones — simulation, measurements, offline programming, and process parameters.
  • Support maintenance and production teams through regular technical meetings and lessons-learned sharing.
  • Help develop global robot standards integrated with joining and process equipment, and take part in the technical discussions that shape them.

What you'll bring

  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related engineering field.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial robotics, ideally in a Body in White or automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Solid knowledge of robot programming, simulation, and virtual commissioning tools.
  • Understanding of welding and joining processes used in automotive body assembly.
  • A structured, problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze root causes and drive improvements.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills — you enjoy sharing knowledge and working across teams.
  • A proactive, quality-first attitude and the drive to keep improving with new technologies.
  • Fluent English.
