Project Manager (Area Leader) - Machining, (VCK)

Who will you report to?
The main reporting line leads to Casting Industrialization Manager.

 

What will you do?

  • Utilize strong manufacturing engineering mindset and previous experience in the automotive industry to ensure that the cars we build meet the highest expectations from our customers;
  • Be a project leader for a cross-functional team that secures the best process design possible by driving Manufacturing KPIs for an intended manufacturing plant within its own commodity area and achieve project time plans, cost efficiency, and safety/health/environment;
  • Be part of a global Casting Industrialization team, setting up the new production plant in Kosice, Slovakia; 
  • Manage a portfolio of projects, contracts/RFQ (Request for Quotation), clients / customer, and plan, coordinate and supervise activities relating to those for a specified area of competence;
  • Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them;
  • Report status and deviations in decided systems / tools and ensure that there are action plans to reach targets;
  • Initiate or performs safety-, reliability- and cost analyses;
  • Ensure/initiate Equipment FMEA and risk assessment activities;
  • Develop and define equipment, tools, machines and processes according to Volvo standards to fulfill defined product specifications; 
  • Implement and commission machining lines for aluminum parts for new car models within Volvo Cars;
  • Represents Manufacturing Engineering as well as the plants, in supporting stakeholders;
  • Share best practices and knowledge and coach the team members; 
  • Own and align global manufacturing processes and strategies within the car programs that share commonality with programs or platforms; 
  • Contribute to the optimal set-up of the workstations and production lines; 
  • Improve the techniques & methods used by the team following the project through product development & feedback, quoting and buying the equipment as well as installing and commissioning; 
  • Take part in cost estimations, development of process concepts, supplier relations, continuous alignment with customers, etc.

 

What will you bring?

  • Previous industrial engineering experience working on Casting/Machining projects (project lead/installation/commissioning) in a leading role, is mandatory; 
  • Good understanding of processes and technologies associated with machining (CNC, trim press), and preferably also aluminum melting and high-pressure die-casting, transitioning products from prototype to production;
  • Competence in Lean Process Design; 
  • Preferred engineering education: Industrial, Casting, Mechanical, Materials Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience;
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken, and proficient in Slovak language; 
  • Ability and willingness to travel within and outside Europe, more frequently in the initial phase (2025), although based in Kosice, Slovakia; 
  • Not only an individual contributor attitude but also an ability to work within a multinational team; 
  • Self-starter and troubleshooting attitude, high level of communication skills, curiosity to learn new technologies; 
  • Analytic and engineering data reporting skills;
  • Strong willingness and ability to drive change and results.

Base Monthly Salary (Gross) for this position starts from 2.700 EUR.
* The salary amount represents the minimum guaranteed amount of the basic salary component applicable to the job. Final salary is negotiable and will be adjusted in accordance with seniority level and previous experience of candidate.
