Plant Engineering Strategy Manager, (VCK)

That’s why we’ve decided to open a new state-of-the-art electric-only car factory – and this time we’re expanding in Kosice, Slovakia. 
The new plant will only use climate-neutral energy and be designed to be a leader in sustainable and efficient premium electric car production. We will optimize the layout and logistics flow to achieve the highest global standards in energy and environmental efficiency.

Who will you report to?

The position is located at the Volvo Car Kosice plant and the main reporting line leads to Head of Plant Engineering.

 

What will you do?

You will utilize strong manufacturing engineering mindset and previous experience in the manufacturing industry to take ownership of the plant’s strategic work, which means that you will plan, prioritize, and steer long-term activities to drive the improvements from startup to a stable world-class running production and beyond. By defining and understanding what is strategically important for the plant, you will influence and ensure that future process changes and products are in line with our long-term vision. You will be responsible for recruiting and building your plant engineering strategy organization that will live up to our Lean fundamentals in their everyday tasks and closely collaborate with plant facility management, plant environment, plant business office, and global manufacturing network.

To ensure that our long-term vision always is present in our daily business you will lead the development of the different shop engineering departments and together you will be developing forecasts and analytical models for productivity improvements. 
In doing so, you will be responsible for:

  • Plan and balance plant processes and layouts;
  • Set efficiency targets;
  • Represent the plant in the cross-functional work with Manufacturing Engineering and Logistics;
  • Manage the manning and efficiency process for the whole plant, including target setting and follow-up;
  • Act as chairman for the plant manning meeting and consolidate manning forecasts as input to the plant business plan;
  • Perform plant/shop/line level efficiency performance analysis and address opportunities for improvement;
  • Give plant input and analyze impact for cycle & volume plans;
  • Maintain capacity restraints for each shop and for the plant;
  • Investigate running change requests and consolidate answers for the plant;
  • Collect and update plant master data (m2, efficiency, working hours...);
  • Be responsible for Plant/Shop Layout Council;
  • Give input to new agreements on working regimes and shift patterns according to regional regulations.

 

What will you bring?

  • Several years of previous working experience in a leading strategic role in a highly automated industrial environment, preferably OEM;

  • Extensive knowledge of methods, tools, processes, production systems, and ways of working in automotive production;

  • Extensive collaboration, networking, and argumentation skills but also deep knowledge of process design;

  • Preferred university education in Mechanical/Mechatronic, Manufacturing, Automation, Electrical, or related field;

  • Demonstrated flexibility, being able to work under an organization in a transformation period, or green-field project;

  • Excellent problem-solving, and analytical skills;

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, conversational in English (written and spoken), while Slovak language skills will be a preferred merit;

  • Strong interest in leadership and in developing people - you are highly successful in bringing out the best in others;

  • Not only an individual contributor attitude but also a demonstrated ability to work within a multinational team, influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Monthly gross salary for this position starts from 3.300 EUR.

* The salary amount represents the minimum guaranteed amount of the basic salary component applicable to the job. Final salary is negotiable and will be adjusted in accordance with seniority level and previous experience of candidate. In addition to the monthly salary, there is also a 13th salary paid in an aliquot amount and a performance bonus depending on the company's financial results and individual performance.
