Mega Casting Production Leader, (VCK)

Who will you report to?
The main reporting line leads to Shop Manager Mega Casting / Machining.

 

What will you do?

  • Utilize strong manufacturing engineering mindset and previous experience with high-pressure aluminum die-casting processes to ensure that the cars we build meet the highest expectations from our customers;
  • Be a project leader within a global production team in our state-of-the-art Mega Casting Shop, setting up the new production plant in Kosice, Slovakia, supporting new car projects by knowing main critical or concerning issues related to tooling, machine, and operator side;
  • Lead process development of the die-cast process through parameter optimization, DOE experiments, and trials that will lead to a robust process, develop process improvements that can have an impact globally in other Volvo factories;
  • Lead and refine the DFM process (Manufacturing, Assembly, Supply Chain, Cost, Serviceability, Sustainability, Reliability, Safety, etc.) and work closely with product design engineering teams to ensure that critical changes are incorporated in a timely manner, as well as to identify manufacturing risks associated with our proposed designs and procedures are always aiming to improve and stabilize main KPIs, cycle time, yield, OEE and quality in stabilization phases of mega casting process development and equipment;
  • Install process parameters and controls to standardize and hand them over into production as well as process control systems; 
  • Oversee operator instructions, critical parameters, checklists, and training materials for all casting operations, update special equipment service manuals including BOMs, drawings, wiring schematics, recommended needed processes, technical expertise, and tooling for optimization of production runs; 
  • Research, design, process & implement automation technology and integration approaches to support Volvo’s in-house aluminum die-casting foundry facility; 
  • Install, assemble, and test presses, fixtures, gaging, robotic grippers & special machines while driving process improvements, continuous improvement, and cost reduction activities; 
  • Share best practices and knowledge and coach the team members;
  • Gather inputs for effective setup of processes and identify shortcomings in such processes, systems and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them;
  • Initiate or perform risk, reliability, and cost analyses;
  • Report progress status to plant management.

 

What will you bring?

  • Several years of previous working experience in high-pressure aluminum die-casting process design, equipment commissioning, automation / robot programming, and control systems design; 
  • Exceptional understanding of the interactions between the influence of high-pressure die-casting process conditions (e.g. die temperature, die & tip lube application, shot profile, etc.) to the metallurgical and structural integrity of cast aluminum components and new mega-casting characteristics; 
  • Experience with manufacturing processes like injection molding, CNC, stamping, assembly, and box build in a production setting and a good understanding of the costs, schedule, and complexity associated with each process; 
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes for new and unique products; 
  • Experience transitioning products from prototype to production;
  • Experience defining and assessing quality standards associated with common manufacturing processes including drawing specifications, limit samples, and incoming/outgoing quality control points with a proven track-record of shepherding products from tool release to mass production; 
  • Preferred working experience in an automotive manufacturing company in a global environment;
  • Preferred university education in Mechanical, Materials Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience; 
  • Flexibility, being able not only to work under an organization in a transformation period, or green-field project, but thrive in such a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, conversational in English, written and spoken, and preferably proficient in Slovak language; 
  • Not only an individual contributor attitude but also a demonstrated ability to work within a multinational team, influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization; 
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Europe, although based in Košice, Slovakia.

Salary for this position starting from 2.400 EUR, per month, brutto.
* The salary amount represents the minimum guaranteed amount of the basic salary component applicable to the job. Final salary is negotiable and will be adjusted in accordance with seniority level and previous experience of candidate. In addition to the monthly salary, there is also a 13th salary paid in an aliquot amount and a performance bonus depending on the company's financial results and individual performance.
