What you´ll do
You will be part of a regional operational logistics team that works close to production, carriers, ports, terminals, and internal stakeholders, ensuring that material arrives on time, in full, and according to plan, every day.
If you are operationally strong, detail‑oriented, and motivated by execution excellence in complex transport networks, this role will suit you well.
As a Logistics Engineer within Inbound Logistics, you will work with day-to-day operational execution, monitoring, and control of inbound, packaging, and aftermarket transports. The role is critical in maintaining production stability, managing deviations, and ensuring performance across multimodal transport flows.
- Execute and monitor daily inbound, packaging, and aftermarket transportation flows via road, rail, sea, and air within EMEA and intercontinental supply chains.
- Plan and follow up on transport orders in line with production demand and agreed lead times.
- Perform daily operational follow up on transport performance, including delivery precision, deviations, delays, and capacity constraints.
- Act as an operational interface towards carriers, ports/terminals, plants, and internal logistics functions.
- Handle transport deviations, disruptions, and urgent material situations.
- Maintain and update transport data in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and related logistics IT tools.
- Ensure operational compliance with customs requirements, trade regulations, transport legislation, and Volvo Cars standards.
- Handle customs documentation and Dangerous Goods (DG) documents
- Follow up operational KPIs such as delivery precision, transport lead time and carrier performance.
- Contribute to operational improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
What you'll bring
This is an execution heavy operational role in a high tempo logistics environment. You need to be structured, resilient, and comfortable making decisions based on incomplete information while managing multiple interfaces simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering
- Proven experience in operational logistics or transport execution, preferably in an international environment.
- Hands on experience with multimodal transport operations (road, rail, sea, and air freight).
- Good understanding of inbound/outbound logistics flows, packaging transports, and aftermarket logistics.
- Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (e.g. Alpega TMS).
- Strong ability to analyse transport deviations and take corrective actions.
- High attention to detail, with a structured and disciplined working approach.
- Strong communication skills and experience working with multiple operational stakeholders.
- Experience managing tasks and stakeholders in a global business environment
- Fluent in English, Slovak, both spoken and written.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently while being a reliable team player
Compensation
Base Monthly Salary (Gross) for this position starts from 1.600 EUR.
* The salary amount represents the minimum guaranteed amount of the basic salary component applicable to the job.
Final salary is negotiable and will be adjusted in accordance with seniority level and previous experience of candidate.
