Who will you report to?
The main reporting line leads to Shop Manager Mega Casting / Machining.

 

What will you do?

  • Utilize strong manufacturing engineering mindset and previous experience with melting and die casting processes to provide technical and process support to ensure we produce and deliver highest quality products on time;
  • Be responsible for set-up, developing and maintaining a unique melting Bill of Process and its corresponding/subsequent processes, including safety, environmental, and 5S initiatives  as well as the the disposition of non-conformance materials and chemicals that come from the manufacturing line, response to out-of-control processes, work on cycle time and melting process set-up, and improvement activities;
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date process qualification procedures and checklists for production, safety assurance documents (including, but not limited to, work instruction & health of the line monitor), establish robust process control and monitoring system for melting and DCM (Die Casting Machine) and its subsequent processes to ensure quality of high-performance structural products, develop process improvements that can have an impact globally in other Volvo factories;
  • Maintain media room, chemicals, and stable system of water treatment, filters, and heating equipment;
  • Lead the first responder team to process excursions as well as root cause analysis, and implement effective countermeasures for process excursions;
  • Oversee operator instructions, critical parameters, checklists, and training materials for all casting operations, update special equipment service manuals including BOMs, drawings, wiring schematics, recommended needed processes, technical expertise, and tooling for optimization of production runs; 
  • Define our equipment, tools, and machines according to Volvo standards to fulfill defined product specifications; 

  • Contribute to the optimal set-up of the workstations and production lines; 

  • Share best practices and knowledge and coach the team members;
  • Gather inputs for effective setup of processes and identify shortcomings in such processes, systems and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them;
  • Initiate or perform risk, reliability, and cost analyses.

 

What will you bring?

  • Several years of previous working experience in process engineering or manufacturing engineering associated with melting and furnace equipment in melting/die-casting manufacturing/industrial environment; 
  • Preferred university education in Chemical, Materials, Industrial, Casting, Metallurgy Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience; 
  • Exceptional understanding of the interactions between the influence of die-casting process conditions to the metallurgical and structural integrity of cast aluminum components and new mega-casting characteristics; 
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes for new and unique products; 
  • Experience transitioning products from prototype to production;
  • Knowledge of process development, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), & FMEA fundamentals are required;
  • Preferred working experience in an automotive manufacturing company in a global environment;
  • Preferred PLC programming skills;
  • Flexibility, being able not only to work under an organization in a transformation period, or green-field project, but thrive in such a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, conversational in English, written and spoken, and preferably proficient in Slovak language; 
  • Not only an individual contributor attitude but also a demonstrated ability to work within a multinational team, influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization; 
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Europe, although based in Košice, Slovakia.

Base Monthly Salary (Gross) for this position starts from 2.200 EUR.
* The salary amount represents the minimum guaranteed amount of the basic salary component applicable to the job. Final salary is negotiable and will be adjusted in accordance with seniority level and previous experience of candidate.
