Technical Expert - Export Controls

What do we offer

Volvo Cars’ Customs team will take on new challenges to support Volvo Car Group’s compliance in relation to Export Controls.

 

To do this we are looking for a Technical Expert – Export Controls who will introduce technical knowhow and experience into our current team to help us identify actions and support us and the rest of the company comply in the best way with the least amount of trouble.

Your key tasks

Our new team member will be responsible for the following high level activities:

 

  • Export control classification of items
  • Handling enquiries generated by blocks in our Export Control system (technical classification and business partners)
  • Supporting VCC organisation/functions in creating and maintaining export control & trade sanctions compliance related procedures and workflows
  • Close cooperation with R&D in export control classification issues
  • Close cooperation with VCC export control colleagues in other regions (APAC and Americas)
  • Being ambassador within VCC for export control & trade sanctions compliance
  • Training VCC colleagues in export control & trade sanctions compliance
  • Being an active participant in IT projects that implement tools to automate processes and improve compliance level within VCC

     

The tasks above will be organised together with our customs classification and master data team (7 people globally) and the person will be an integral part of this team. Our expectation is that the person we hire will join the team and will take equal responsibility for the team’s entire delivery and thus will undertake to also learn and understand the deliveries primarily expected of other colleagues.

 

Do you fit the profile?

 

To be successful in this role, the key requirement is that you have a technical flair because in this job you will have to learn and understand VCC products as well as technical platforms so that you can easily navigate in the VCC organization. You have previous work experience from process-oriented IT projects as well as you have business oriented approach – with respect of the compliance role. In addition to that, you have knowledge or you are willing to learn regulatory background. Our company language is English and therefore you have to be fluent in verbal and written English.

 

On a personal level, you are open-minded team-player who is ready for new challenges. We also see that you are structured in your daily work and that you have great attention for details. Moreover, you are service minded and have high integrity when it comes to your work. In this role you will have create and maintain a network of  various technical experts in Manufacturing, R&D, IT etc. and therefore it is very important  that you are strong individual and firm communicator with great networking skills.
