Each year, Volvo Cars welcome students as Summer Interns to our sites in Gothenburg, Olofström, Skövde och Lund. As a Summer Intern at Volvo Cars you can work in production, in one of our storages or at the office. Spending a few weeks in our team is a great way for you to get an insight to what life at Volvo Cars can be like and gives you a basic understanding of our operations. What you'll do
In this summer internship, you will use computer aided engineering tools to model and simulate airbags, as stand-alone components or as a part of a system.
Part of the internship will be defining a scope for a masters thesis to be performed during spring 2026. The scope will be set up together with your supervisor(s).
Examples of Relevant Tasks:
• Developing in-house concept airbag models
• Applying machine learning to enhance CAE correlation and testing analysis.
• CAE optimization through machine learning
What you'll bring
- We are looking for you who are currently studying for a Master of science in Engineering, preferably in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equal.
- You have no problems working independently and prefer to plan your own work. You are also a great team player.
- You should be comfortable using CAE tools and familiar with CAD design. A strong interest in connecting CAE with physical testing through knowledge in numerical analysis, AI, machine learning, and computer vision is highly beneficial.
This summer internship is for two people, so you will need a fellow student to participate with you. The internship is designed to transition into a master's thesis opportunity in spring 2026.
