Summer Worker - Aerodynamics

Each year, Volvo Cars welcome students as Summer Interns to our sites in Gothenburg, Olofström, Skövde och Lund. As a Summer Intern at Volvo Cars you can work in production, in one of our storages or at the office. Spending a few weeks in our team is a great way for you to get an insight to what life at Volvo Cars can be like and gives you a basic understanding of our operations. It also provides you with a strong network in our organization, which can be of value in your future career.  The number of Summer intern positions and work areas varies from year to year.

Welcome to explore the world of Volvo Cars through a summer job at the Aerodynamics! As a summer worker in our organization, you are supported by a supervisor who will mentor you throughout this period. All summer projects are arranged in business-critical areas and therefore you will be able to contribute to our company purpose – providing freedom to move in a safe, sustainable, and personal way – from day one!

What you'll do

Embark on an exciting summer journey at the intersection of innovation and aerodynamics! We are seeking motivated individuals eager to contribute to the advancement of our cutting-edge numerical tools. Your role will be pivotal in refining our internal computational methods that drive vehicle performance and technological progress. This opportunity offers a unique chance to collaborate with experts, develop your skills, and make a tangible impact through creative problem-solving and technical excellence. Together, we'll push the boundaries of what's possible in aerodynamic research and development.

What you'll bring

MSc student in Applied Physics, Mechanics, Engineering, or a related field 
•    Directed your studies towards fluid mechanics 
•    Experience working with CFD or other 1D/2D simulation tools (desirable)
•    Proficient programming skills (meritorious)
•    Experience with physical testing (meritorious)
•    Collaborative mindset and effective communication skills
•    Fluent in English, both spoken and written

 

Duration
•    Start Date: Tentatively scheduled for the second week of June 2025 (exact date to be mutually agreed upon by the student, and Volvo Cars)
•    End date: Last week of August 2025
•    Mandatory vacation period: 14th of July – 10th of Aug
•    Duration: 9-10 weeks
