Software Engineer

Software, the fuel for mobility
We bring bold digital visions to life. So we’re on the lookout for more curious and creative engineers who want to create change – one line of high-quality code at a time. Our transformation isn't for everyone, but if you're excited about solving the leading-edge technological challenges facing the auto industry, then let’s talk about your next move.

Let's introduce ourselves

Core System Application Integration is a tight, agile team within SWEP Software Factory, focusing on building and maintaining test environments for new platforms and programs. We design and develop automated test on HIL test rigs, integrate software and electronics, and continuously improve our CI-based test infrastructure to maximize test value early in development.

Our rigs are an essential part of the Continuous Integration flow and provide fast, reliable feedback on system quality and robustness. We enable automated integration testing and visualization of system status to support high-quality software deliveries across the organization.

We are now looking to strengthen our team with a Software Developer who wants to work hands-on with test environment development, automation, and CI infrastructure for our next-generation platforms.

What you'll do

As a Software Developer in Core System Application Integration, you will work end-to-end with our test activities, from designing test infrastructure to analysing test results on HIL rigs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining test automation and CI pipelines
  • Giving requirements to develop or evolving HIL rigs and test environments
  • Creating, executing, and analysing automated test cases
  • Developing and maintaining toolchains for test automation
  • Verifying software using Python, Groovy scripting, and Vector CAPL
  • Orchestrating and managing rig infrastructure using automation tools such as Ansible
  • Performing fault tracing and analysis across software, electronics, and hardware
  • Continuously improving test coverage, robustness, and CI stability

In this role, you will gain a broad system-level understanding of Volvo Cars’ vehicle architecture, electrical systems, and software platforms.

What you'll bring

We believe you have a genuine interest in the combination of software and hardware, and a strong drive to improve product quality through smart testing and automation. You enjoy analysing fault slip-throughs and developing solutions that lead to stable, maintainable, and scalable CI flows.

You are someone who:

  • Has several years of experience in test development and test automation
  • Enjoys taking an active role in test activities and technical problem-solving
  • Likes influencing ways of working and technical direction
  • Takes pride in both individual and team deliveries
  • Is proactive, curious, and enjoys sharing knowledge
  • Thrives in collaborative, cross-functional teams

You hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • Experience in testing and fault tracing
  • Experience working with testing in a CI context
  • Proficiency in Python programming, Robot Framework, or Vector CAPL
  • Experience working in a large-scale software development organization

Meritorious

  • Experience with version and revision control systems, e.g. Git
  • Knowledge of Jenkins or similar CI automation tools
  • Experience working with HIL rigs and automated test systems (e.g. Vector)
  • Experience working in Agile development environments (e.g. Scrum)
  • ISTQB certification or equivalent knowledge
  • Experience with Linux systems
  • Experience with Ansible or similar automation frameworks
