Software Architect

Software development that makes a difference

At Volvo Cars, we are making bold digital visions come true. We aim to lead in the automotive world by creating a digital ecosystem built around making our customers' lives less complicated. Now we are looking for curious, creative people who want to change the world through innovative thinking.

Welcome to Volvo Cars Connected Experience (ConX), where we pioneer next-generation solutions for Infotainment, connectivity, audio systems, and beyond. In the dynamic environment of eART Solution Integration and Release, we orchestrate the integration of various components (Electronic Control Unit) within our Continuous Integration (CI) framework. Additionally, we rigorously test and deploy software baselines in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) setups and vehicles. Presently, we seek a Software Architect to oversee the architectural vision and design of software systems within ConX DevOps, ensuring scalability and reliability across all tools and services within our Agile Release Trains (ARTs).

About us

Tech Stack: At ConX, we pride ourselves on our robust and cutting-edge technology stack, with a strong emphasis on Python and other relevant technologies. Our tech stack includes a wide range of tools, products, and services related to software development and integration, such as CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure), messaging queues (RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, Kafka), databases (SQL, NoSQL), and more. While we don't work directly on in-car software, our tools and services enable hundreds of developers in their day-to-day work, emphasizing the developer experience as a key factor for success.

What you’ll do

•    Lead the architectural design and implementation of DevOps software solutions, actively contributing code while providing guidance to development teams within various ARTs.
•    Collaborate closely with system teams to ensure adherence to design documents, coding guidelines, and architectural principles across all stages of software development.
•    Identify architectural challenges and provide practical solutions, incorporating scalability, security, and reliability considerations into the design process.
•    Champion best practices in software development, including code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration, to maintain high standards of software quality.
•    Drive the adoption of architectural best practices and design patterns within development teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
•    Conduct regular architectural reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure alignment with project objectives and architectural vision.
•    Act as a technical mentor and coach, empowering team members to grow their skills and expertise in software architecture and design.
•    Actively participate in discussions and decision-making processes on architectural matters, leveraging your technical expertise to drive informed decisions and consensus among stakeholders.

What you’ll bring

•    Expertise in software architecture, design patterns, and architectural principles.
•    Strong understanding of continuous integration, software development, and software quality.
•    Familiarity with automotive electrical systems and a passion for automotive technology.
•    Experience leading architectural design efforts or the potential to assume a leadership role aligned with Volvo Cars' values.
•    A master's or bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
