Senior Inbound Logistics Engineer

Problem solvers welcome

When you contribute to creating a Volvo car, you support advancing our mission of making life safer, simpler and more sustainable. Now, we’re on the lookout for production workers who want to be a part of a larger purpose and make a real difference in the automotive industry. So if you’re good at solving problems and like to work in a structured and focused way, this could be the perfect opportunity for you to join our diverse team.

Let's introduce ourselves

At Volvo Cars Global Supply Chain Management, we manage and develop a global inbound supply chain that is constantly evolving to be ready for the future. We do this in a lean and sustainable manner with a constant eye on new opportunities and developments. We care about people, safety, and sustainability in line with our brand promise.

At Inbound Logistics Engineering, we work together with internal and external stakeholders to find the best-in-class logistics solutions for our global inbound supply chain towards our production plants. We are a diverse global team based in Gothenburg, Shanghai and Charleston and we are now looking for two experienced engineers to complement our team in EMEA. The automotive logistics industry is a dynamic, competitive yet rewarding place to be with lots of challenges in the years ahead as the automotive industry is transforming to an electrified and sustainable future.

What you'll do

This is a Senior Inbound Engineer role, reporting to the Head of Inbound Engineering. As an engineer in the team, you will work with a focus towards our production plants and future car programs and/or towards the external transport market.

When working with our production plants, you will be part of cross functional teams that together work towards the common goal of having a lean supply chain from supplier to when the material is to be used in the production line. You will represent supply chain in the development and preparation for our new cars, securing that supply chain considerations are part of the full process, from selection of part suppliers to setting up an efficient network. When working towards the external transport market, you will work with strategic design of our inbound network in close collaboration with our internal stakeholder, Transport Procurement, as well as with contracted as well as future potential carriers. You are expected to continuously be up to date on new technology and possibilities in the transport market and strive to develop Volvo Cars’ supply chain to be as sustainable and cost efficient as possible while delivering the highest quality of service. This role can also be connected or include Ocean inbound flows, so experience from Ocean intercontinental set up is an asset.

What you'll bring

We are looking for a candidate with:

- A degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in logistics, supply chain management or engineering preferably within the automotive industry.
- Experience in network design and working with different transport modes.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently.
- A self-driven attitude with strong analytical and organizational skills.
