Our Power Electronics department is a pioneering business unit within Volvo Cars, responsible for designing & developing innovative products such as traction inverters, on-board chargers & DC/DC converters. We are constantly working to improve our power electronics products in terms of efficiency, power density, weight and cost with enhanced quality from one generation to the next. 

What you'll do

In this role as a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will be part of our ACDC / DCDC HW team focusing mainly on the development of AC/DC converters (known as onboard charger) together with development suppliers (tier1).
  
•    Securing requirements, technical regulations and compliance agreements with development suppliers
•    Take lead in supplier management in terms of technical design reviews
•    Your tasks will also include Cost engineering, benchmarking and reporting status/progress together with Quality Assurance disciplines such as FMEAs.
•    A close co-operation within the team and across Propulsion & Energy is crucial, to enable the future implementation of the most desirable solutions. 
 

 

What you'll bring

To be successful in this role we believe you have background/ experience from:
 
•    University degree within electrical engineering or equivalent working experience
•    You have over 6 years of experience in product development and a good understanding of development phases from initial concept to final delivery.
•    Strong first principles design approach in power electronics domain 
•    Working with DC/DC, AC/DC or DC/AC converters
•    EMC related knowledge
•    Knowledge in the areas of EMI filters, PFC & DCDC stage
•    Working with cross functional teams
