We are now searching for an experienced leader to our Exterior Lighting team within Body & Exterior engineering. The Exterior lightning team is responsible for Exterior lightning hardware as well software where function and software development is a large part. Exterior lightning develops solutions inhouse as well as through Full-Service supplier contracts. This is done through 7 engineering teams with 15-20 people each with Engineering Managers reporting directly to you and the total scope is 100+ team strength located in Gothenburg and Shanghai.

What you'll do

You will lead the Exterior Lightning part of the business toward achievement of set business unit goals. Participate in and support vision and strategy development and decision making for the whole company. Translate mission, vision, and strategy for the enterprise to mission, vision, and strategy for the business unit.

 

Leadership and Direction

Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these tenets and do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.

 

Organizational Capability Building

Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfil personal potential.

 

Performance Management

Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives. 

What you'll do...

Internal Client Relationship Management

Manage relationships with strategic internal clients and act as a business partner to them, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust, and mobilizing appropriate internal and/or external resources to support in delivering business strategy and plans.

 

Skills

  • Operate as a recognized expert to review and evaluate recommendations and requirements and to develop appropriate plans or deliver actions required. Typically known as a subject matter authority.
  • Work at an advanced level to shift into and out of a mental mindset associated with assessing the facts and circumstances of the current situation and/or environment and making the appropriate/innovative adjustments to thinking and work habits to thrive in any scenario. Typically work independently and provide guidance.

  • You will operate at an advanced level within design, development, and to exploit new and advancing technology to create engineering outcomes and be technically solid to understand technical information.
  • You have a minimum master’s degree in Engineering and have also documented leadership trainings throughout your career. You also have a driving license.
