The Infotainment and Driver & Vehicle Information departments together deliver in-house developed software for Infotainment systems for Volvo Cars. We are part of the Connected Experience Unit within Volvo Cars Engineering. Our mission is to provide a state-of-the-art infotainment system based on Android and Google Automotive Services with frequent deliveries to keep us in the leading position.
What you'll do
Your purpose as a Release Train Engineer/Department Project Manager will be to lead our teams project deliveries and are in full control of status and progress for our deliveries/releases and secure that we are meeting these on time with decided content.
You will be a member of the department management team for Driver & Vehicle Information and work both internally for both departments but also in close cooperation with the neighbouring departments within Connected Experience.
You are responsible to plan, lead and secure deliveries/releases with regard to time and within decided content. Together with other department leaders drive needed agile process and drive to remove and escalate impediments and risks. You will interact closely with Infotainment release management team create, maintain, and communicate a delivery/release plan. You are the one to report status and collaborate with receivers of the departments’ deliveries/releases. You are also expected to work with product and solution management, product owners and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment.
Role Description:
Lead and manage teams and organizations to continuously improve speed, flow and quality. Drive, support and coordinate different perspectives in need of further attention. The Flow Mastery roles are named differently depending on operational model and level.
Job Responsibilities:
- Agile Development Team Facilitation: Lead Scrum ceremonies, remove obstacles, and facilitate problem-solving, collaboration, and conflict resolution to enable the most effective work delivery by development teams on small projects.
- Agile Backlog Management: Review the backlog of work for a medium-sized project and reprioritize the work and the deployment of project resources to reduce costs and increase the value of the work delivered to the business.
- Leadership and Direction: Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the function's strategy and action plan and to the broader organization's mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
- Project Team Management: Lead a small- to medium-sized project team; communicate the project vision and the necessary outcomes, along with guidance to achieve these outcomes; coordinate team actions on project activities; coordinate the flow of additional team members on and off the team, as needed; and identify areas of improvement to build the capability of the team through training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Work Scheduling and Allocation: Develop short- or medium-term work schedules in order to achieve planned commitments. Approve overtime or use additional resources as needed.
What you'll bring

You have a positive attitude, are self-managed and strong delivery focus. You are flexible and eager to learn, with a growth and agile mindset. Further, you are well organized and thorough with documentation.
We think you have 5+ years of relevant work experience, preferably as a project manager for software development and BSc degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience. You master the English language both spoken and in writing and have a strong business and end customer value understanding.
We believe it is greatly meritorious if you have experience from the automotive industry and specifically knowledge of Volvo Cars development process in general as well as the electrical development process.
