Quality Assurance Engineer

Want to drive digital change in automotive?

At Volvo Cars, we are making bold digital visions come true. We aim to lead in the automotive world by creating a digital ecosystem built around making our customers' lives less complicated. Now we are looking for curious, creative people who want to change the world through innovative thinking.

What’s in it for you?
This role is within our Global Online Experience Cluster, which is using digital technologies to reinvent the experience of becoming a Volvo customer. There is no reason the experience of buying a car should be painful and difficult – it should be as enjoyable and exciting as actually having a new car. That is our mission. We build the end-to-end experience for online sales/subscriptions of cars, global campaigns, and frameworks for other parts of Volvo cars.

Your responsibilities will include rapid development of prototypes/concepts, and regular product development within the Quality Engineering department. You should have start-up experience where you have quickly developed prototypes and catalyzed product development in a fast-paced, fluid environment. You are a hands-on test automation developer who loves Quality Engineering. You are experienced with agile development and a champion of software development standard methodologies.

What you'll do
Write utilities for the QA team to use. Do you contribute to open-source projects? Then it’s a bonus point. In collaboration with the product agile teams guide and help secure test automation.

Who you are:
We are looking for someone with strong programming experience in at least two languages from JavaScript, Scala, Typescript, Golang, and Kotlin. Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases. Ability to optimally articulate technical challenges and solutions. Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly. Good hands-on knowledge of test automation frameworks such as WebDriver, Cypress, and Nightwatch.js. Coding experience with automation framework, tools, and services for the web. Experience in API testing. Collaborating with developers and other team members, thereby supplying acceptance criteria from business requirements, and formulating test scenarios. Good Log troubleshooting experience (elastic search query, bash scripts).

Experience working with message brokers eg: Kafka, RabbitMQ, and streams. Proven understanding of building pipelines (Azure DevOps, Team city, Jenkins). Good knowledge of version control systems eg: GIT and databases and SQL queries. Knowledge of design patterns is most widely used in Test automation and writing tools to help other manual QA engineers. Understanding of QA methodologies, life cycle, and processes. Shows creativity and initiative to improve product coverage and efficiency.
Knowledge of Perl, Bash, or other scripting languages is a plus. Good knowledge of Agile methodologies and testing standard methodologies. Proven knowledge of Integration and Contract testing. Last but not least, open-minded person and a teammate.

Would be nice knowing within following areas:
•    Setting up dashboards for reporting test results in real-time Grafana, Kibana, data dog, etc.
•    Docker and Kubernetes configuration and solving problems for test environments.
•    Experience working with Typescript.
•    Performance testing experience with K6io, Gatling, JMeter.
•    Elastic search (KQL), Kibana, AWS, and Azure experience is a plus.

This position can be based either in Gothenburg or Stockholm.

We offer our employees excellent benefits such as:
