Public Relations Manager - Volvo Cars
You want an exciting career that challenges you and contributes to positive change. So, what’s your next move?
Our future is about tech – electrified cars connected to people’s everyday lives. Tech that will shift how our society functions. But how do we introduce this future in a way that’s safe and sustainable? These are some of the questions we’re solving at Volvo Cars. We’ve set our targets big. Becoming all-electric and reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions are just two.
Let us be clear: This fast transformation isn’t for everyone. But if you’re excited by the technological and sustainability challenges facing the auto industry and society at large, and if you thrive in a fast-paced environment, you will be a perfect fit.
This is what you’ll do
We are looking for a Public Relations Manager with an eye for identifying and developing impactful news-based stories and seeing them through to execution.
In this role, you will develop media Q&As, as well as assess and support interview requests and speaking opportunities with company spokespersons. You will coordinate and host media events and media visits. You will have close contact with our regions and markets, which you will support with corporate media questions and hands-on coordination support. You also monitor relevant media outlets for communication opportunities and newsjacking.
You will work within the Central PR team, communicating with external stakeholders focusing on media. For us, a Public Relations Manager is someone who proactively stays on top of what is happening in the business, to be able to react quickly to potential risks and find stories that help build the corporate reputation and support Volvo Cars’ brand and strategy.
In Volvo Cars’ Central PR Team, the pace is high, and as part of our press office, we are in daily contact with media around the world, as well as with our PR managers in our markets and regions globally. In the team, we are outlining and executing long-term PR strategies, campaigns, and events such as new car launches and media drives. You will need to work efficiently and independently, but also as an integrated member of the PR team and as part of wider 360 comms project teams. The Public Relations Manager reports to the Global Head of PR.
Qualifications
A minimum of five years of relevant experience within Media Relations and PR will be needed in this role. You have a good understanding of media logic. You have experience working with consumer PR and B2C communications, as well as with corporate communications. You have an overall understanding of the complex interplay between business, policy and geopolitics, and you know one or two things about financials as well as the tech industry. You hold exceptional organizational skills and can handle several tasks and projects simultaneously. You are organized, process-oriented, and enjoy identifying and creating structure where needed.
You have a good ability to build networks with internal and external stakeholders and you are a great communicator both orally and in writing. You are very familiar with the English language, but you don’t have to be a native speaker.
Experience in a Communications department as a PR manager is valuable, as well as experience in a company with a global presence.
This position is based at Volvo Cars’ international HQ in Gothenburg or at our Tech Hub in Stockholm, Sweden.
