The mission for Data Platform is to Establish a unified self-service data platform for all VCC data professionals offering flexibility, scalability, cost-efficiency, and a user-friendly user experience catering for the diverse data needs and ecosystems at VCC., which supports the Volvo Data Vision of Powering innovation and every decision with trusted data.
The Data Platform team has a mission to empower individuals and organizations with the tools and capabilities to unlock the full potential of their data. We are dedicated to providing a comprehensive data platform that facilitates data collection, storage, transformation, analysis, and visualization, enabling our users to make data-informed decisions and drive meaningful change.
The Data Platform will enable teams throughout the enterprise, to enable its data, and consume other teams’ data. To get insights and take data-driven decisions.
What you will do
As a Product Manager for Data Platform, you will lead the charge in shaping and optimizing the usage of our data platform. Your role will be pivotal in creating a seamless and efficient data journey for our users. Your product will mainly be focusing on the Snowflake and Power BI-related areas, which is tightly connected to other offerings we have in the Data Platform. You will be working very close to your product manager-colleagues, who all cares for different offerings in our Data Platform, aligning the common vision, strategy and roadmap. Next to you, you will also have an Engineering Manager to collaborate with very closely.
In this role you will also:
• Developing and executing a strategic vision for our data platform.
• Collaborative product development: Apply empowered product teams, ensuring cross-functional collaboration with our users, engineering and data teams to deliver a user-centric data platform.
• Platform development: Manage the development and evolution of data platform capabilities, including Snowflake (data warehousing), Power BI (business intelligence), and other related tools, to meet the needs of diverse business domains.
• Project management: Oversee timelines, deliverables, ensuring smooth execution and timely delivery of initiatives. Expertise in Agile methodologies and project management best practices is essential.
• Stakeholder management: Engage with key stakeholders across business domains to understand their needs and problems, prioritize features, and communicate progress and outcomes.
• Data mesh and self-service enablement: Support the data mesh strategy by empowering business domains to consume data independently using the platform’s self-service capabilities.
• Metrics & continuous improvement: Define product metrics and KPIs to measure platform adoption, usage, and success. Use data-driven insights to iterate on and improve platform offerings continuously.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Work closely with the Group Product Manager and your fellow Product Managers to ensure that the product roadmap is cohesive and aligned across all platform capabilities.
• Technical: Understand data platforms and related tools like Snowflake, Power BI, and ETL tools to effectively collaborate with engineering teams and guide product decisions.
The position is based either in Gothenburg or Stockholm.
What you will bring
You possess a strong technical background, including a deep understanding of data architecture, software development, and data management. Your ability to navigate complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions will be essential.
Proven track record in Product Management, particularly in data-related roles. Your ability to define and execute product strategies will be critical in shaping our data platform's future.
Have a strategic vision for how data can drive business success. You should be able to align technical strategies with overarching business objectives.
Bring a forward-thinking and innovative mindset to the team. We're looking for someone who can drive technological advancements and explore new possibilities in the data space.
You also have
• Advanced English communication skills
• Experience working with highly visible projects in an international environment
• Knowledge or experience of both traditional and modern data engineering practices
• Proven technical experience as a Product Manager, preferably in data management or analytics.
• Strong technical insights, with a deep understanding of data architecture, Data Mesh principles, and software development.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage complex technical initiatives.
• Knowledge of or experience with Data Mesh and data product concepts
