The responsibility of the team is to define and deliver the braking hardware for future vehicle programs. As leader in innovation and safety, Volvo Cars is committed to continuously work finding technologies that can define new safety standards and braking systems is one of the key areas of development to set them.   

What you'll do

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in project management by overseeing scheduling, cost tracking and managing components within the PLM system. You will also take charge of supplier management, including planning and monitoring test activities, ordering parts and managing changes. Close collaboration with project managers, product owners and other technical roles will be essential to successfully develop concepts, test solutions and prepare them for industrialization. 
 

Your responsibilities include: 

  • Time planning, cost tracking and handling program content 

  • Overseeing components within the PLM system 

  • Managing full-service suppliers, planning test activities, ordering parts and handling change management 

  • Working with department project leaders, product owners and other technical stakeholders on concept development, testing and industrialization 

What you'll bring

Your ability to communicate and network seamlessly allows you to collaborate across teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Your experience in industrialization and launch phases of car programs demonstrates your capability to drive results during critical stages of development. 

 
We also believe you: 

  • Have several years experience in chassis hardware development with full-service suppliers 

  • Have proven experience in technical leadership roles 

  • Have a MSc degree in a relevant field (preferably mechanical engineering) or equivalent expertise 

  • Are fluent in English, both written and spoken
