We are a team of Homologation engineers with focus on compliance for Volvo Cars EU/ECE markets. We work in close cooperation with architects, vehicle homologation leaders, market compliance managers & regulatory affairs in our department Product Regulation and Compliance. We also work closely with the Volvo Cars engineering teams and Technical Services to secure compliance.

What you'll do

As Homologation Release Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring vehicle certification and compliance for EU and ECE markets. You’ll work closely with authorities and accredited technical services to secure approvals that enable Volvo Cars to deliver safe, sustainable, and compliant vehicles worldwide.
You’ll join a dedicated team of Certification Engineers specializing in Safety, Environmental, Whole Vehicle Type Approval, and Conformity of Production. Together, we safeguard compliance while supporting cutting-edge technologies and future innovations.

In this role, you will lead and execute certification activities for EU/ECE markets, managing the process from planning through to final approval. You will coordinate and oversee witness testing with authorities and technical services, ensuring compliance with market-specific regulations. Your responsibilities include preparing and maintaining all documentation required for homologation and certification processes. Acting as a regulatory expert, you will support R&D teams by interpreting requirements and guiding development programmes. Additionally, you will negotiate and influence certification strategies with external stakeholders to achieve efficient and compliant outcomes.

What you'll bring

•    A technical degree or equivalent experience in automotive engineering.
•    Solid understanding of automotive regulations and proven experience in certification processes.
•    Familiarity with R&D development programs and change management.
•    Experience in attribute work (interior, exterior, electrical, or chassis) is a plus.
•    Strong negotiation and diplomatic skills, with the ability to turn challenges into opportunities.
•    High integrity, professionalism, and adaptability in a multicultural environment.
•    A proactive, business-driven mindset with the ability to drive change and deliver results under evolving conditions.
