What you’ll do

 

In Connected Experience at Volvo Cars, our purpose is to develop and deliver a world-class digital customer experience realized in our Infotainment, Connectivity and Cloud Platforms. As Head of Remote Functions, you will be part of the Connected Experience Leadership Team, ensuring our ability to deliver as an end-to-end solution.

Your teams will be responsible for delivering connected services to Volvo and Polestar vehicles. Remote control services enable interaction with the car from the outside, including remote climate / pre-conditioning, using a phone as a key, customized approach to the car, remote charging experience etc.


The product area is a vital part of our mission to provide a best-in-class customer experience of a connected vehicle. The product development spans across multiple platforms, from vehicle to cloud and to the Volvo Cars mobile app.

We use modern tools and agile methods to create business value continuously and we ensure high quality and adaptability in our development and delivery.

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Build an empowered leadership team to support speed and quality of product deliveries
  • Make sure that technical strategies and objectives are set in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders
  • Facilitate transparent communication
  • Proactively work with competence development to assure the right competence in line with strategies
  • Recruit highly skilled individuals in line with identified capacity, wanted culture and competence needs
  • Take complete responsibility for all operations in the Department/ART by addressing issues with relevant stakeholders
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and continuous delivery across ConX, and guide development strategy and methodology
  • As a part of the Connected Experience leadership team, define and drive the Connected Experience strategy towards the business goals of Volvo Cars

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage engineering organizations effectively.
  • Extensive experience in the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.
  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills to address complex issues that may arise during the development process.
  • Capability to develop and communicate a strategic vision for the department. Aligning team’s effort with organizational goals and staying abreast with industry trends is essential.
  • Proven ability of systematically driving change in large organizations
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams, stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Proven ability of building long term relationships with employees, internal stakeholders as well as external relations fostering a collaborative environment,
  • Self-driven with a proven ability to challenge, take own initiatives and a drive to succeed.


We also see that you have...

  • A degree in Software Engineering, information technology or similar fields or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in leadership roles within Engineering, also covering lead of leader roles.
  • Experience of continuous product development, including in-house developed software.
  • Experience of mobile app and embedded systems development built on programming languages as C, C++, Swift, Kotlin, Java etc.
  • Experience of development and implementation of cloud based services on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud using modern practices (Docker, Kubernetes etc)
  • Understanding of mobile UI/UX principles
  • Knowledge of testing methodologies and quality assurance processes specific for embedded systems and/or mobile app and/or cloud services
  • Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools
  • Experience in project management methodologies including Agile and Scrum combined with several years of experience with DevOps culture and mindset.
