Volvo Cars is looking for a skilled and experienced Global Trade Experts to join the Global Trade Management and Compliance (GTMC) Our purpose is to design, implement and operate a world class ‘zero waste’ supply chain, through data-driven analysis and intelligent customs and export controls design. We believe that we are somewhat unique in the automotive world where Customs is approached as a strategic competence and consequently given a loud voice in decision making.

Areas within GTMC where we are looking for new colleagues as Specialist and Experts within:
•    Trade Governance and Regulations, focusing on ensuring continued compliance with global customs and export control regulations
•    Trade Strategy & Cost Leadership, focusing on maximizing the use of legal possibilities to minimize the global import duty payment for Volvo Cars in the most cost-efficient way

•    Process Excellence, EMEA, focusing on process improvement to standardize, improve and create an effective way of working globally.  


What you`ll do?

 

The Global Trade Compliance Expert is primarily responsible for securing compliance with international trade regulations by ensuring that the required mechanisms and structures are in place to provide effective oversight, control and accountability in Volvo Car’s international cross-border trade activities. 


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•    Develop the GTMC program and global strategy
•    Monitor and interpret changes to the international trade regulatory landscape
•    Understand and analyze the implications to GTMC of company plans and activities to identify risks, as well opportunities to make efficiencies / savings
•    Drive the GTMC agenda with cross-functional stakeholders
•    Undertake compliance assurance activities to verify policies, processes, controls etc. are implemented as intended and working effectively
•    Oversee and co-ordinate the implementation of corrective/preventative actions, continuous improvement activities etc.
•    Interaction with government agencies other official organizations on matters related to international trade compliance


What you`ll bring? 

 

•    Extensive experience in the field of international trade compliance with a proven track record of delivering tangible results in this area
•    Deep subject matter expertise in international trade compliance topics including tariff classification, customs valuation, preferential origin, trade defence instruments, and special customs procedures
•    Previous experience with audit / control frameworks and/or risk management
•    Commercial insights, can think beyond the comfort of customs and export controls textbooks, and drive innovative solutions that enable the company to move forwards
•    Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills
•    Ambiguity and indicative responses to strategic questions, using scenario-based models, estimates and assumptions based on facts and data that support your decisions and influence the decisions of others
•    Clear, concise communication that translates complex subject matter into language and requirements that can be understood at all levels in the business 
•    Global perspective, commercial insights and understand that strategy can only be successfully delivered when it can be translated into concrete plans, actions, and outcomes
