Global Procurement Propulsion at Volvo Cars is responsible for developing purchasing strategies, new vehicle/platforms sourcing with the best in class concept, supplier sustainability, supplier quality, supplier footprint set-up/optimization, and cost reduction for all direct material supplies to Volvo Cars related to components within our responsibility area. Propulsion Procurement is now looking for a Global Category Manager for Aluminum and HPDC.

You will be part of the section management team and report directly to the Head of PE & Aluminum. As GCM (Global Category Manager) you will lead the global category team operations and be responsible for end-to-end deliveries of the team including strategy development, Industrialization & Launch as well as Running the business. The teams consist of procurement professionals (mainly buyers and SPMs but also Cost estimators) in Europe, China, and the US. 

What you’ll bring

We look for someone who has good communication skills in English and a broad experience in purchasing. Moreover, you have a commercial or technical university degree as well as previous leadership experience. 

As a person, you ensure ownership by inspiring and purpose-based leadership with the mindset that everything is possible. Planning and aligning as well as balancing stakeholders are in your nature. You have a high interest in individual development with the ability to develop the employees’ mindset and behavior. Furthermore, you have the social capacity and a desire to improve cooperation with key stakeholders.

• Enjoy taking your own decisions and having the freedom to decide on the strategy of your own category. 
• Be confident in presenting to executive audiences and have negotiation experience with global suppliers
• Have demonstrated expertise in developing a global team of professionals. The teams are highly diversified and consist of very motivated people that are located in all regions.
• Enjoy strategic opportunities that can be solved with teamwork within procurement and cross-functionally. You believe that your strength is in the team!
• Enjoy having a lot of internal and external interactions, acting as an ambassador for procurement internally and for Volvo Cars' externally.
• You have great business insight, influence for results, and expertise with great negotiation skills.
